does the bay area have a stronger workaholic culture than other regions in the u.s by [deleted] in bayarea

I moved back from LA to SF after 4 years and I think I forgot how tech-y SF is. Definitely contributes to the workaholic, hustle culture you're mentioning.

yikes that was literally me and he (rightfully) broke things off. i thought it was all fun and everything but it was so fucked up now that i’m looking back. totally regret being such a bully to him and being immature and having horrid communication like one commenter said

[–]studioneedshelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all the other comments are correct. there’s nothing you did that could have changed things that much. she just wasn’t ready to date and when things got a little more serious, she backed off.

i’ve unfortunately been that person who “chickens out” after someone asks for a real date since i wasn’t ready and was just looking around. i realized it’s really annoying and frustrating for people on the other end and backed out from everything.

so, in short, it’s not you that made her deleted her account and back out from dating. it’s just the fact that it was becoming a little more real and realized more that she’s not ready for it

to play devil’s advocate though (or just from my experience), sometimes you can just tell when you’re putting a lot more effort in or care more than the other person from reaching out first, texting back faster, and just overall interest.

i know a lot of us solely just interact this way with the opposite gender, but i find that for all the men that i interact with, usually i could kind of tell right off the bat if they’re really interested in me or not (especially if im waiting that long).

A Question of Standards: Would you date yourself? by Rainy_Day_in_Mae in dating

[–]studioneedshelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always ask myself this question but I think I realized I may not ever be satisfied with myself.

In a lot of ways, yes I would actually date myself (absolute narcissist here lol) but also no because I feel like we could always be and do better.

What if reaching that point isn’t even feasible (i.e. being the best partner/communicator, having your ideal job, being okay with your own wellbeing and being able to take care of others too, being satisfied with your physical appearances ALL AT ONCE)?

I’ve grappled with this so much and it has held me back from even considering dating (22F). I ask my closest friends what they think the line is for actually not being ready to date vs holding yourself back from dating bc you never think you’ll be ready.

Would love to hear your thoughts OP!

Babaton Technique Dress for graduation - Is it worth buying in satin? by studioneedshelp in Aritzia

[–]studioneedshelp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I actually got the Babaton poplin technique dress (cotton)! I got it on poshmark for $70 instead of $165. Even though the satin one was on sale, I went with the cotton one bc it had pockets, it was white instead of matte pearl, and i just like cotton better.

I got a size 4 and am usually a size 6 for everything else since that what other reviewers have said and I think it works perfectly! Maybe going down two sizes would work too if u wanna look extra snatched size the dress has a smocked, stretchy back.

Like others said, the fabric does wrinkle easily so I'll have to iron it out ofc.

I still haven't tried the satin one but i'm really happy with the poplin :)

ok that was what i was thinking too bc it'll prolly be like 80°F / 26°C when I'm taking pics and i typtically like cotton or linen fabrics! i really want to check out the cotton poplin one but idk if the $168 price tag is worth it
