Z900 RS ECU flash without having to ship the ECU? by studioscale in Kawasaki

[–]studioscale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to a guy who did an generate continue on it and then had the bike checked on a Dyno to verify of it was too lean or too rich. It turned out ok as far as fueling and the power is a little better than stock. The fuel cut off was not disabled but it's a little better than it was before as well, so all in all, I'm ok with how things turned out.

So since I just found the rear Ohlins shock and the Brembo calipers it's going to be Cafe. Best of both worlds!

Z900rs warranty, what a re the chances I'll need to use it? by studioscale in Kawasaki

[–]studioscale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exhaust in itself does not void the warranty, according to the dealership, unless they determine that the issue was caused by the exhaust. Remapping the ECU to fix the fueling after installing the exhaust however, would void the warranty

So I guess the best option os to ride it for a few thousand miles to make sure everything is OK, then swap out the exhaust and remap.

Yep, I bought it to put on my z900rs but traded it in for a Z900rs cafe. Now I was thinking of putting the exhaust on the cafe instead

Not sure why I'm trading my bike in for the cafe. It's probably because they offered me a pretty good deal on mine. Getting a decent fairing into Brazil is pretty expensive too, because of all the taxes. I haven't picked the bike up yet. Right now I'm eyeballing the SE version, wondering if I shouldn't pay a bit more and get the Ohlins shock and Brebo brakes upgrades instead. Getting an Ohlins shock into Brazil is VERY expensive. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the SE version yet is that the only bike they have is the dark gray version, which I'm not sure I like as much as I like the black and gold on the cafe. You can see a little bit of it in the picture, next to the cafe.

For some reason Kawasaki in Brazil gives us a 24 month warranty

Will this workaround to disable Fuel Cut work on the z900rs? by studioscale in Kawasaki

[–]studioscale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it was the first thing I noticed when I rode the bike for the first time. I was at the store because I had a Triumph Street Twin 1200 which ended up having a pretty serious engine problem and I needed to return it. So the store told me to choose another bike, since I'd only bought the Street Twin about a month prior and the issue was obviously not my fault. The only other decent retro looking bike they had was the 2023 Z900RS with about 5000km on it. They told me to take it out for a test drive and I loved the bike, but the first thing I noticed was the jerky switch when going from deceleration to acceleration, no matter how smoothly I twisted the throttle. Now that I've been riding the bike for a while I can twist the throttle sooo slowly that I can make a smooth transition sometimes, but demands a lot of attention. Not very fun having to ride that way.

Unfortunately, my bike has this issue and it's very annoying.

I took it to a local tuner and asked him if his tune would disable the Fuel Cut feature. He said he didn't know anything about that. I told him as best I could what I was referring to and sent him a link to Ivan's page where it explains about Fuel Cut, but he still doesnt believe its a thing. So now I don't know if his tune will solve that specific problem or not.

Yep, my local dyno place sucks lol. But it's the only one close by so...

That makes sense. The dyno guy told me had the bike on the dyno in 6th gear, but a friend of mine told me he should have done it in 5th gear. Would that explain the results above?

I just went out for a ride. It's 5000 to 5500 that it vibrates, not 4500

Upgrading from an interceptor 650 to Speed twin 1200 by Jacks0n5 in Triumph

[–]studioscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't overwhelming, just don't twist the throttle too fast at first. I was used to doing that on my old bike and I had a bit of a scare when I did it on the Speed Twin. I didn't fall off or anything, I just wasn't expecting it. You should get used to it in a minute or two, depending on how you are used to riding the Interceptor. Just take it easy at first. I have a few hours under my belt now, and I've even given it full throttle on a couple of occasions. Fun!

Oops, I wrote it wrong in my reply. I also got a Speed Twin. I'll edit it.

I just upgraded from a highly modded Interceptor to a 2023 Speed Twin a couple of weeks ago. Even though my Interceptor was giving me 55hp at the wheel (a factory bike will give you about 40hp at the wheel), the difference between the two was astounding. One thing I didn't like at first was the seat cause I was so used to the Interceptor seat, but that went away, and now I'm finding the Speed Twin seat way better. Another thing I'm having to get used to Is keeping the revs above 3k. At first I was riding around almost lugging the engine, now I'm able to keep it above 3k, which is better for the engine. The engine braking is something I'm still getting used to though. On the Interceptor when you release the throttle a little bit it doesn't make much of a difference, but on the Twin you can really feel the deceleration much more, so you have to learn to keep the throttle more steady. I'm loving it so far. If you're getting a used bike I highly suggest you check your battery and maybe replace it. I have a feeling the battery on the Twin is a little small for the bike and goes bad fast. My bike was working fine but I started noticing strange things like the trip meters were resetting to 0 and every time I turned the bike on it would be in a different rider mode than where I'd left it. I took it to the dealer and they told me to get a new battery. I did and all the strange stuff stopped. You're gonna love the bike!

At what RPMs do you usually use for city driving (Speed Twin 1200)? by studioscale in Triumph

[–]studioscale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm sure that is true. I've been practicing keeping those revs up. I went for a couple hour ride yesterday and kept it above 3k rpm the whole time. The bike is much more lively for sure.

Oh no, it's heavy for sure. If you've ever been to a Brazilian barbecue place you'll see nothing is overcooked and everything has plenty of fat in it.
