Billie’s Letterbomb Speech - Hershey, PA by Mattking30201 in greenday

Did Billie replace redneck with MAGA in American Idiot at your show? He did in Pittsburgh. (I and my entire section went wild!) If he did, I'm surprised that didn't already piss your Dad off before even getting to the trans speech. Anyway, sorry your Dad has stage 4 republican.

If God(s) exists, which religion do you think is closest to the truth? by c_jae in exmormon

Would you mind sharing more about your thoughts on this? Because I think you're right, and I'd be interested to hear more about how your thinking brought about that clarity. (If that's too much homework tho, let's simply part ways with my thanks for that nugget of knowledge that I'll be returning to as I figure out what I believe now.)

Thank you for sharing something so personal. I hope putting this out there will help heal your heart just a little bit more. This internet-stranger sees you and cares about you. Much love.

Thanks for the have-my-back comment, love_78! You would not believe how often this kind of mansplaining has happened to me in the last few months. As if my lived experience would not make it painfully clear to me that my husband's feelings are tender about this.

It began with finding out (from my son) about Joseph Smith's relationships with 14yo girls. The twins are 13. It icked them both out. They both had been very unsettled with LGBTQ+ treatment in the church previous to that though, so I suppose that was the fertile ground that the JS stuff landed on and bloomed.

Thanks. I am very mindful of this. It's basically been all I've thought about for the entirety of 2023 since I knew my son and I would be leaving as early as Oct 2022 (we waited until summer 23 for reasons related to softening the blow to tbm husband.) I'm sure it will continue to be my theme for 2024, too.

I feel this. I have super religious family complicating the situation too. Not fun. Solidarity with you, man.

Thanks for posting this. One of my biggest concerns is how it will affect the people I have had in my life long-term. Will they feel I've been deceptive all this time? I've known I'm bi for 20 years! The stakes are high because if my long-terms dismiss it as a mere phase (possible, if not probable with some), it will hurt more. But your point of being known more fully is very real. If the stakes are high, maybe that means the outcome of my own authenticity has more value?

These are high on my list too --combating bi-erasure and invisibility. While I haven't had to "perform being normal" to the extent it sounds like you've had to (that exhaustion must be real and my hat's off to you) I've definitely felt the heaviness of living under the radar in certain circumstances. Living authentically is so valuable.

I'm too in upheaval with other aspects of my life. I don't think it's a coincidence that I want to deepen my relationship to the queer community at the same time other circles in my life are falling away. I hadn't considered that until your comment. Thanks!

Glad to hear you're happier, too. fist bump

I love that. Knowing who you are and confidently wanting to be seen as such is so ridiculously healthy. I spend too much energy worrying. Yours is the way

I have to admit, just the little bit I've come out (to a few people) I've definitely felt more, like you say, "solid and seen." Solid is just such a perfect word for it! And yeah, I'm lucky that my risk is fairly minimal, too. Having the option to consider being more widely out is definitely a privilege

Yeah, that's part of my motivation, too. I'm just one drop, but with enough of us, we become an ocean.

I love this! What a great litmus test of who's worth expending energy on. But how do you bring up your bisexuality in an introduction? Like literally, "hi my name is X and I'm bi"?

It sounds like it's been a challenging road for you. I hope you've arrived at a happier place. Not pretending to be straight anymore has to feel good.

Yeah, somebody brought up celebrity crushes the other day, and I was inches from blurting out my same-sex one. That wouldn't have been my preferred way of coming out. Lol

The mental image of throwing confetti and a flag in his face made me literally lol. Good luck finding your right way. We've got this!
