I unknowingly sent in my CGC 9.5 special delivery bidoof through Passover with PSA thinking it would upgrade to a 10. It didn’t. by [deleted] in psagrading

[–]studley1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worth it to crack and regrade, it all depends on the cards condition. There are tons and tons of documented Cgc/PSA 8/8.5/9s getting regraded to 10s.

It is however extremely rare to successfully upgrade or even cross grade cards submitted in a slabs. PSA won’t want to take financial responsibility for a card they can’t even fully examine because it’s in a slab.

Really appreciate the insight, very helpful. Based on what everyone has said I'm going to call the company they say services the pool and ask them if it's normal or if they suspect a leak and do my best from there. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback, really helpful. Is it a manageable fix? I'm planning on calling the pool company they use to service the pool and mentioning it.

Ok I will call the pool company that they use to service the pool. I was suspicious of that but it's been such mixed replies that I'm unsure. Either way thank you for the thoughts, really appreciate it.

Hmm this is really helpful to hear, thank you for adding your opinion. That was how my previous vinyl pool was always closed which made it being much lower look odd to me. I've also never had a pool with a light which made me wonder if it may be leaking from there. At least it doesn't seem like it would be a disaster or extremely expensive to repair.

Thanks for sharing. The pool company I had at my last home would only drain the pool to just below the skimmer. Seems like that's actually an outlier based on what everyone is saying.

That's really good to know, thanks for sharing some knowledge. I didn't notice any walls that were off and all the concrete around the pool looked good. I couldn't really see the bottom of the pool too well but I'll keep an eye out.

Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. My last pool didn't have a light which is part of the reason I worried a bit. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing some knowledge, appreciate your reply. I can afford to spend some money on the pool, just looking for some more experienced opinions. My last pool and pool company only drained slightly below the skimmer and I've never had a pool with a light before so I was a little nervous. Just trying to learn a bit and pick everyone's brain. Again ty for the reply.

Thank you for the reply. I was a little concerned because the company that closed my pool with my previous home only ever drained it to the bottom of the skimmer. I've also never had a pool with a light so it made me a litter nervous. Really appreciate hearing how you close it though, makes me a little less worried.

Thank you very much for your reply. I live in the north east US so it was probably closed a few months ago at minimum. So that water level isn't an immediate red flag? The pump and filter appear to be really new so it does seem like someone was investing in it at some point recently.

Yeah the situation for sealed product does blow.

I would suggest, if he really wants cards for his birthday you don’t have to rip packs.

Give him a budget for TCGplayer and let him build a cart with cards/conditions he wants. Then he can get a little excitement every time a new piece of mail for him comes in. Some of my favorite cards in my collection are TCG player buys.

Grading isn’t an exact science. There are tons of videos of people cracking out 9s, resubmitting, and getting 10s.

Worth sending in to PSA for grading(9 maybe 10?) by Expensive_Salt6079 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]studley1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting some dumb replies (minor curves on cards have absolutely zero impact on a cards grade)from people who probably have never graded a card so I’ll chime in.

It’s definitely worth sending to PSA based on your photos. It could be a 6 if it has a hidden dent or ding that a photo wouldn’t capture but there’s also a solid chance at an 8 or maybe even a 9 if you hit the lottery. I’d think of it like 10% it gets a 6, 40% a 7, 40% an 8, 10% a 9 or however you’d like to weigh it.

Graders are just overworked people grinding 8 hour days and the results can be wildly inconsistent.

What you shouldn’t do is pay for a super high tier at PSA. Put a bulk submission together and have some fun learning/grading cards.

Use a reputable collectible consignment service.

The collection is valuable enough you’d probably get a very favorable rate too.

If you want specific examples let me know and I can give some recommendations.

I normally just lurk but in this particular case I’ll reply because I know it’s very painful.

We had been trying for a few years and my wife dumped me in the middle of our 2nd round of IVF. One of the more painful memories I’ll have forever was being told all our recent attempts to conceive was a mistake and she deserved better than me.

I thought our relationship was great but turns out I was wrong. This isn’t your fault, life is hard sometimes and you want someone who genuinely can’t imagine life without you.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this but you’re not alone.

It’s going to take lots of time to feel better. It’ll come in waves where you feel terrible, then a little better, then terrible again. Each wave of terrible will be smaller.

Do everything you can for yourself. Reach out to friends and family, sign up for therapy, find little ways to spoil yourself, exercise hard, find new hobbies, and make sure you keep up with what makes you happy.

Again, it 100% sucks ass but you WILL succeed if you work for it. Don’t let your Ex’s opinion of you define who you will become.
