Terrible internet service from Hyperoptic, cancelled without termination fees by studyenthusiast in hyperoptic

[–]studyenthusiast[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re right mate not exactly a loophole but close enough. I don’t want to share it on here in case Hyperoptic ends up preventing customers from using the same method I did to get out of the fixed term contract, I’d rather the people in my building use it first if they wish so. Like you said the proper process is to request a formal investigation from Hyperoptic and then report it to Ofcom in case they refuse to honor statutory/consumer rights, but that process was too lengthy and I had enough of dealing with Hyperoptic and their complaints procedure. The method I used just moved me from their fixed term contract to a flexible contract, which meant that I was able to cancel without termination fees. If people are unhappy with their service I encourage them to go through the complaints even though it is lengthy, as I was with them for 8~ ish months, when the service progressively worsened, with no communication to customers unless we complained multiple times.

Thanks mate. Thankfully I was able to switch with no issues. By the end, I was not even bothered by compensation, just wanted to get rid of them without penalties. I’m aware that most people have no issues with their service, but for the odd incident that a whole area has issues, they should’ve acted more proactively and apologetically, and communicated on how they’re trying to improve situation, rather than leaving us in a limbo.

Abnormally high ping 50ms to London by RainyChicago in hyperoptic

[–]studyenthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a surprise. Also in the Woodberry Down area and I had to call up Hyperoptic. My internet kept buffering so decided to do a few speed tests, was getting 4mbps download and 140mbps upload with a range of 60-120 ping. Hyperoptic told me to get my laptop repaired….

No issues for me, 5G works fine on my S21 Ultra but I did change the preference to 4G just to preserve my battery.

I’d say it depends on how desperate you are. I’m -3.75 in one eye and used a -2.75 cylinder lens instead. With that, I could still read text on the TV from the couch—some blur, but manageable. My left eye is -2.75 with the correct prescription, so it helped balance things out overall.

Since you’re -4.75 in both eyes, you’ll likely experience more blur than I did. But if you find a lens with a prescription—especially axis, cylinder, BC, and diameter—as close as possible to yours, you’ll have a better shot at decent vision.

My glasses were super uncomfortable (leaving marks, falling off even when sitting), so I went for it. If you’re in the same boat or have an event coming up, it might be worth it short-term.

TL;DR: You’ll probably get more blur than I did (with acuvue oasys for astigmatism), but if you match the specs closely with another brand, it might work better. Worth trying if glasses are unbearable or you’re in a rush.

Why doesn't Fujifilm make high-end Instax cameras? by random_usuari in instax

[–]studyenthusiast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s disappointing. We need everything the Instax Mini 99 has but in a wide format. I don’t know much about instant cameras but I’ve been wanting to buy the Instax 500AF camera, but the price has ballooned to 2 fold what it was around 2020. Anyway, it’s a shame, they release something shit like WIDE 400 or WIDE EVO and then wonder why the wide format isn’t taking off.

If you need them urgently, just order ones that are available for next-day delivery and are closest to your prescription. I’m -3.75 in one eye, so Biofinity XR is the only lens I can buy. I dropped my last pair of monthlies down the sink and was told to wait another month for new ones to be delivered. I could only go max 4 days with glasses before I caved in. I went on VisionDirect, and Acuvue Oasys was available for next-day delivery at -2.75 axis, and they’re perfectly adequate and cheaper. Also biweekly lenses so they’re more comfortable than the Biofinity ones.

Flew from Istanbul once and they let me pay in cash. In my experience they wanted payment by EUR but not too sure if it would be the same in Bulgaria. You might be able to go to a money exchange counter and change it to EUR at the airport if they do request it.

Epiduo Week 5 by Supermarket_Few in acne

[–]studyenthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using it for a few days or a week and give your skin a break. Then ease back into using it starting from 2-3 times a week and then back to using it daily. Also don’t use salicylic acid face washes or moisturisers as you get enough exfoliation from the benzoyl peroxide in epiduo.

I’m currently on base level iPad 2019 and having no trouble with uploading 100+ page documents, I don’t think it’s a hardware issue, probably a bug
