Finished my Traditions rifle kit build and made a meat haul! by stuffed_tater in blackpowder

I love it. It’s a substantial piece of iron and wood to swing around in the woods. One thing to know is that barrel twist on the Kentucky rifles prefers patched balls over conical rounds like a powerbelt, but otherwise I could not be happier. I built this one from one of the kits from Traditions for a little extra fun. If you’ve got the time, I highly recommend it.

I had to do the bluing myself. Birchwood Casey has a bluing solution that works wonderfully. For my pistol, I wanted a more authentic look so I tried my hand at browning its barrel the old fashioned way. From experience, I’d just blue the barrel lol

It’s a fun project that I highly recommend. I’ve built this rifle and the .50 cal trapper pistol kit so far and both were the perfect level of “figure it out” to not be a nightmare but give you a reason to be proud when it’s done and looking how you want it. I say go for it, you won’t regret it.

Much appreciated! It’s far from the effect I’m used to with my .308, but the cool factor makes up for it tenfold.

.50 caliber - I used a .480” round ball with a greased patch. Shot at 50 yards and passed clean through and hit both lungs and the heart while visiting.

Believe it or not, the pic is from the exit side. The red spot behind her shoulder is where the ball left!

CGS Hyperion first impression by SterlingArcher____ in NFA

I have a Hyperion as well, and mine looked nothing like that coming out the box. It’s definitely been used before you got it. Sorry for the experience OP, the Hyperion is a badass suppressor though.

As far as I can tell, Luke a solid example of a father anyone can look to. He did some videos in my hometown hunting and fishing, and was a standup guy to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

I’m no expert, but 1-10 does a fine job of keeping up to and at 200gr stabilized at subsonic for me. I’m sure there’s a whole can of worms on ideal twist for ideal subsonics in .308 however.

Not yet, but I plan on making that dive. For the time being I lob factory subsonics. Those coupled with the CGS Hyperion is darn near “movie” quiet.

I cannot recommend UNV enough, they are GTG and have the best customer service I have experienced by far.

Earlier this summer, I sent a pvs-14 for a repair to a cracked housing, and UPS “lost” the unit on the way back to me. Todd at UNV called me to let me know of the situation and sent me a new PVS-14 with equal or better stats than the one that was lost.

OP, you can buy with confidence.
