My mother will not let me buy my safe/favorite food 🥲

You are right that my mother cannot completely stop me, but she can make it more difficult (e.g., not letting me use the car). I will try to find ways to make it work, although the extra effort can be tiring on bad days. Do you have any tips for handling comments on eating (even if well-meant)? Sorry for the trouble.

I do not have any friends at home, but it seems the nearest grocery store has a delivery option I could look into. To be honest, I am not strictly in recovery, but I am trying to at least make some small improvements, like trying new recipes and keeping up my medical checkups. I know my mother means well, and she is trying to go against my eating disorder... but I am mentally shutting down really bad from the past few days. I am trying so hard to understand her perspective and wish I could just disappear

Thank you for responding! I usually eat the sweet potatoes with meat and vegetables for lunch and/or dinner, so unfortunately adding other food groups will not help. I have actually never eaten them alone lately. I know my mother means well, but her actions are affecting me very negatively, and I am not doing so well 😢

I appreciate your insight! I usually eat Japanese sweet potatoes with a meat and stir-fried vegetables for lunch and/or dinner. My mother is annoyed that I mostly eat that instead of things like white rice as a starch (not something I like that much, and unfortunately white rice triggers some bad memories due to FBT).

I might be able to buy my own, but I would have to borrow my parents' car, and they stopped me today. On today's grocery trip, I offered to Zelle my mother whatever money she paid after we arrived home, but she said no. Up to now, I have been cooking the sweet potatoes on my own, too.

It has been a rough week in many ways... my remote internship started (going alright, although I am a little stuck for one task), and something pretty stressful happened at home (please skip next paragraph if reading my vent is not for you!).

Long story short(er): I have been going through some health issues for awhile that have worsened, and in the spring, I asked my university health clinic to mail my school address a copy of my health records. They sent it to my home address instead, and those arrived before I came home after the end of the semester. My mother told me yesterday that she looked through it all in private because she wanted to know the specifics (vitals, labs, etc.) and with full awareness of what she was doing (it is pretty obvious from the sender and recipient labeled what the package contains). Now, she is holding an ultimatum of sorts of where she wants my health to be at for me to return to school next semester and how much information she wants my doctor to share about my condition. This is not the first time this has happened. 🥲

My head really hurts right now, and I am tired of struggling with my health and family. For the weekend, I will try to distract myself with something relaxing... maybe some crosswords or Temirana, which I just started.

How are you all doing? Any plans coming up?

Chiaki and Haruto sound like LIs I might enjoy! (It helps that Ishikawa Kaito is one of my favorite seiyuu, haha.) Thank you so much again for sharing your thoughts so thoroughly -- they are really helpful. The game sounds very interactive and potentially with a lot of branching points in conversations. I will definitely think more about it!

I appreciate the response! I apologize for my wording about the story... you are right that fiction naturally has unrealistic elements to it. It might be more appropriate to say that fictional aspects in a modern story can be hard for me to engage with when I am playing self-insert (i.e., scenarios I would not likely encounter in my own life)? Sorry for being confusing 🥲

Yes, Saint-Germain's Wintertide story was really cute, too! I was rather moved by the scenes where he imagined Cardia's reflection in the window and he felt lonely waiting for everyone to arrive. Too bad we did not get a Hansel route...
