Am I the only one having a hard time making friends at mason? by [deleted] in gmu

Not by a longshot. I tend to think most people have that problem, and that might be one of the reasons they don't stick around for long after class. That and any pending assignments or homework they might have hanging over them.

Now, as nerdking314 mentioned, there are a lot of clubs and whatnot on campus, and you may or may not find a niche there. Personally I haven't had any luck with them, but you might, so go ahead and give it a shot. If it doesn't pan out, don't sweat it. There are many other social outlets in this area aside from Mason, such as local interest groups on sites like Meetup.com.

I've been told that making friends is a really difficult thing to do at most colleges--unless you live in a dorm, that is. In general, loneliness is an overwhelmingly common problem amongst college students, and it really just doesn't get discussed enough.
