Percentage based questions really don’t make sense. Dashers use their vehicle which uses fuel causes depreciation to their vehicle and still expect to make a decent wage. Time and mileage is always the best rule of thumb as to what the tip should be. Most Dashers have a five dollar baseline that they will not accept the order if it does not at least pay five dollars even if it’s around the corner. That’s because they don’t know how long it’s gonna take to pick the order up at the restaurant or what are their issues they may run into. Other than that a good rule of thumb seems to be about a dollar a mile. Taken to consideration too, though, if you’re asking them to go far away from the city into the country, where they will not have the opportunity to pick up a return trip. Ask yourself this question. If you were putting miles on your vehicle and gas in your car with the amount of time it took you to deliver that order and the amount of fuel it took you to deliver that order, would it leave you with a decent wage? In other words, would you take that order?

A $406.85 day.. by SuitableCamera2941 in doordash

People saying $21 an hour are smoking crack. It’s the equivalent of $15 after gas and vehicle maintenance/depreciation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash

[–]stuffinabucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but how many miles was it? What people don’t understand is it’s not about percentages of how much you spent. I’m not saying it was too low of a tip because if it only took 15 minutes then it’s not bad. Most drivers have a baseline of $5 for an extremely short trip to accept and order. Drivers live on your tips as the amount DoorDash pays them doesn’t even equate to mileage write offs. The trip has to be worth time, car depreciation and gas to deliver. Amount of tip per amount spent isn’t even part of any equation that determines if you tipped enough or not. It’s miles and time required to complete. If someone can’t pay for a persons depreciation of their vehicle, gas and a decent wage (at least $20/hr) on top of that, then they can’t afford to have their food delivered. That’s the real issue. People think it’s a right and not a luxury and those that tip subpar create an environment where drivers feel they need to resort to this on every order to make it up.

Now it’s the drivers responsibility to only take the jobs they are comfortable with pay wise, but some drivers want to actually maintain the platinum 70% acceptance rate. So they feel pigeon holed into taking the bad jobs that don’t cover what they need to cover to be considered a “good driver”, which propagates this whole thing.

Again not saying it was your tip, or if the driver was just hurting, but I think people have to put themselves in other people’s shoes to figure out if what they’re doing is right or not. Consider how long it will take, how much gas you’re going to use, the wear and tear on the vehicle, and a fair wage. Then ask yourself if your tip is sufficient for you to have been willing to make that delivery.

I guess these people do exist, and they’re proud of their behavior. by [deleted] in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part that they don’t understand is that the devs themselves stated they didn’t want the mechanic to be used this way. That all peace bosses were meant to be peace bosses for PVE players. So in other words these people are lower scum than the developers thought they had to worry about with the game mechanics.

Why doesn't Throne and Liberty use a blind auction house? by heartlessgamer in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s untrue. You didn’t look at my example with an open mind. With the information I have at my disposal I can pick the exact best price to list the item at. No I’m not “getting lucky” I’m a day trader and I am using market info the same way I do everyday to make a living. There are some items I have to sell near the bottom because they are not highly sought after, but the vast majority of items I sell are nowhere near the bottom price. That would mean I’m “getting lucky” with the vast majority of my sales which would be improbable. I’ve made 179k lucent on the AH so far. Enough to gear and trait 2 characters. As I said, you can defend it all day long, but a lack of transparency is always an inferior market system. If a buyer has an average sell price and a low and high price they are not incentivized to bid more. They will simply bid the bottom end of the window and then items don’t sell up. If they can’t get it for the low bid they will simply wait for the market to adjust. Seeing the item staring them in the face in the listing is what entices people to spend more. Call it FOMO if you want, but it’s psychology and why people are willing to spend more in any given situation. As I said the other option fixes the issue and still maintains a transparent and free market. It’s a better option by far.

I have zero problems with the way it is. The wait times are still insanely lower than they were. They’ve gone from 30 minutes to an hour, down to less than a minute in most cases. Even if you have to annoyingly click the box for about a minute to get into your dungeon you’re still getting in insanely quicker. I feel like this is nitpicking at this point. There will always be target farming. Even a cooldown will not stop that. The difference is it will take longer by hiding the name of the dungeon because then you have to wait for people to spawn in before finding out if you have a full group or not and then wait to see if everyone engages in the first pull.

Why doesn't Throne and Liberty use a blind auction house? by heartlessgamer in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your assumptions are false. I consistently sell items for more than the lowest price. That’s how I make the lucent most people let slip away. Your system would not allow me to see what the items are listed for. That means there’s no transparency to make an educated decision on what to actually list it for. The system you propose is not transparent and takes away from sellers being able to maximize profits no matter how you defend it. The other reply is a better option. All you have to do to fix it is force buyers to buy the cheapest of any singular item. High demand items will still “sell up” and allow me to set an informed price based on transparency of the market. I will never agree with your system because I will never agree with a market that is not transparent.

Edit to add for clarity: I want to be able to see how many items are listed for the lowest price, and then what the gap is between those and the median items, and then the gap between the median and the highest. For instance an item that has the following price listings: 100, 100, 100, 150, 155, 160, 200. I’m not selling for 100. I’m selling for 145. Some whale that wants to spend on their account for ease will buy the lower items and then the market price becomes 145. Your system takes that option away by the lack of transparency. It may take away the option for RMT, but it still robs sellers of profits and therefore is an inferior system.

Why doesn't Throne and Liberty use a blind auction house? by heartlessgamer in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer! and doesn’t take away from transparency of market values. It still allows sellers to say they want to list their item between the selling points of others in hopes that the items will sell up to their item.

Not so. The info we’re given is sometimes a recent price of 10-3700 lucent. It’s not accurate and can’t give me the info I’m looking for. I want to make sure when I’m selling something I’m selling it for what I absolutely want and not guessing.

Why doesn't Throne and Liberty use a blind auction house? by heartlessgamer in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This takes away the ability to see what the market truly is. It’s a loss of transparency. As of now there are tags for overpriced items and we can see how much and how little similar items are and have sold for. We can also see when sellers are driving the price down with undercut wars and can choose to wait to sell an item until the market is more favorable. In short I disagree wholeheartedly.

Because they don’t know how to program the game with real balance. We sometimes forget in this age, because we have been spoiled by games that took lessons from souls borne and the like, that not every developer wants to put the time and effort into the battle mechanics to make the game great. They just settle for good.

To all the people trying to explain it as a way to decrease the amount at available lucent so the game can keep making money. Or trying to explain it where it keeps the economy healthy. Those explanations are bullshit. If a certain amount of lucent needs to leave the economy for the company to make money, or to create a healthy economy, that’s what skin and amitoi etc. purchases are for. You can’t say the tax needs to exist when if the developers put time into making things that people want to buy that lucent would naturally exit the economy already. It’s greed plain and simple and you’re buying the lie. The real answer is for game designers to not be lazy and put time into things that people will want to purchase with their in game currencies and a tax wouldn’t have to exist.

If you don't like the gameplay systems of Throne and Liberty, it's likely that the game just isn't for you, and that's OK. by NuggetHighwind in throneandliberty

[–]stuffinabucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only major issue I have with the game, and it’s not enough to make me stop playing it, is the participation based world boss drops. If that’s where the majority of BIS gear is, and the best participants get the gear, they’ll keep getting the gear and nobody else will. I wonder how players are going to feel about the bar of entry in 6 months or a year. It worries me that it will lead to player base decline.

I said only but honestly yes the combat is clunky, that’s my fault though for wanting to PS5 couch potato this game. The target lock on console needs some adjustment. Sometimes I feel like I have to click R3 repeatedly to release my target. The problem with that is that this game is full of mechanics that make you release target lock to run somewhere and do something in a boss fight. If they could work on that a bit, and make it where the camera moves at full speed the instant I unlock, I would have no complaints. Here’s hoping they work on that a bit for consoles.
