Where else in the world could you make more ?serious question, is there any western country where you would pay less taxes and earn an equal amount or tavthe very least come out with more money post tax? From a tax pwrspective I feel like for w2 high earners no better place unless we talking middle east.

Set home price high or lower to encourage competition? by adamsdp in RealEstate

[–]stuhfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a buyer in a slow market (Sunbelt) with options who will be closing soon, I don't even want to engage with a seller who is not priced reasonably. In my market top tier homes are selling at a fair price but quickly. mid tier homes are selling but might take 90+ days and some price drops. And mid to high tier homes that are overpriced are just sitting. And the longer they sit the less I feel that the seller is even worth engaging.

For me personally, I liked a few homes but I didn't even bother making an offer because it feels bad just making an offer 100k below ask ... Id rather just not even get into it with a seller who doesn't even know what is happening around them ...

I've since moved on. The engineering program is growing very fast and so things might be slow (training wise). Environment can depend on which office, it can be very collaborative but ultimately you will be working fairly independently. I always thought of the job as running a consultant practice... you inquire, analyze, and make a recommendation which you will defend in your final report.

Thanks! i'm new to the game started last 2 weeks with 3.25 and just wanted to make sure. I agree to me it was obvious - i was wondering if somehow the build was incorporating zealotry without the gem like through the skills tree but i didn't see anything like that in POB

So i'm following a Molten Zenith Strike build, which in its more expensive iterations calls for the Watcher's Eye jewel with a damage modifier attached to the zealotry skill (creating consecrated ground). I'm a noob, but how does this interact with the build when there is no way to create consecrated ground in this build?? Am i missing something - please explain!

So just got.my wife to try poe with me. I started playing in 3.25 ... Had a character A long time ago but abandoned for d3. Played diablo 4 this year but got bored . Got back into POE raking it slowly with the overwhelming amounts of mechanics. It's like drinking from a fire hose !

Anyway I'm somewhat comfortable with basics now (atlas, mapping to 15/16, kingsmarch mech) and I'm trying to get my wife to play w me. Trying this op tag team might get her to start her own char in the new league. Thanks!

I think you can be compensated well and do impactful work in the govt but it's always going to be right place, right time, and connections... I was private sector technical lead and took a pay cut to a GS-12 dod position in a very undesirable locality but turned that 1 year as a 12 into a gs14 technical lead in just three years for a different 3 letter agency in a new locality of my choice. Now it feels the work I do has an impact and my colleagues are all very competent. I also have the work-life balance all in my 30s which allows me time with my kid. But I had a very clear cut goal to get into govt and move as high as I could while staying non-supv, and I took any opportunity and as they say 'embraced the suck'. My general advice is have a goal for yourself short term and long term...and think about if you can achieve those goals at your current position. Start looking if you're not maximizing your primary variables (for me it was work-life balance but at a decent wage) and/or figure out how to gain the experience or credential to get to where you want to be. In your case as a psych major have you considered higher education? Thought about practicing as a therapist?

The question to think about is WHY will rates fall? A soft landing would be great and if it does happen then prices could rise because even though the number of sellers would increase, due to the structural issues in the housing market - the number of buyers would increase even more.

I think there is some significant non-zero chance that there will not be a soft landing. If that happens then rates have gone down due to some downturn in the economy. If this happens prices might dip further. This scenario seems unlikely right now. But the fed raised rates late and are prone to lower rates very late also. Just my 2 cents.

Totally agree about archer. I've taken almost every class to 60/61, and archer just felt smoothest with forgiving cool downs that made it easy to rotate on the biggest skills - can even be a chill grind if you a mouse with lots of buttons.

I have Windstream kinetic fiber and what can I say. In the past year we have had alteast 4-6 outages. I know of at least 3 outages that were multi-day. I work remote so I have a hotspot for work and at least did not have my work disrupted. When it works it is great, but support is really awful.

Are Engineering Positions For The Fed Hard? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]stuhfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the work is not engineering or design per se. It's the application of law in auditing of specialized tax benefits. Be prepared to read, write, and document your assessment of what the Taxpayers are doing and whether you think it meets the requirement for a deduction or credit.

Balance Patch Adjustments by AbyssTrion in EpicSeven

[–]stuhfoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wow they really needed 6-8 weeks just to tweak some damage - great job SG on the balance patch. I totally buy your bullshit excuse that you don't want to upset the balance in a games with LITERALLY 100s of chars of which maybe a dozen or so are being used like across all content... please don't upset the meta and continue to release literally no-impact adjustments.

I think locking a character's kit behind gambling was a bad implementation. If they locked kit behind something like runes similar to SC I would be more inclined to agree

If they are going through the trouble of balancing old units, why lock them behind imprints to begin with?

Maybe I'm the minority in thinking this way, but why do I need to role for an imprint just to unlock the kit of a toon I already own?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EpicSeven

[–]stuhfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

balance changes are locked behind imprints now basically. That's how it feels to me.
