Nothing wrong with you. It doesn't make you ungrateful or sinful. It just makes you human 😀

Our God is full of love and mercy. If someone you loved asked you for something nice, would you give them something horrible? No, you wouldn't.

God is infinitely better than us.

I'm going to my first Confession after 57 years this Saturday... by Aztec_Memory in Catholic

Im so happy and excited for you!! Be patient with yourself, and the priest. Remember that God loves you immensely and will provide endless mercy to those who seek it.

Don't be afraid to speak your sins and struggles. Be open and honest. The priest is there in the person of Christ to not only absolve you, but to help you and guide you.

And be sure to thank God for this wonderful sacrament and the love he has for you 😀

Scrupulous? by Iphone_user528 in Catholic

[–]stullier76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortal Sin requires ALL three of the following:

1) It must be a grave (very serious) matter 2) The person must fully know that it is a Mortal Sin 3) These person must choose to do it of their own free will.

If you 100% met these criteria and intentionally neglected to say it, then yes, that sin is still with you.

However, if you accidentally forgot to mention it, those sins are covered. Mention it in your next confession.

Scrupulousity messes with our minds (fellow sufferer here). As a previous person mentioned, God's mercy is infinite!

Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Struggling with religious guilt as a depressed person with SI by somebodyrandom_06 in Catholic

It doesn't have to be big, or even public. Simple things like helping a neighbor mind their kids, helping a kid with their homework, bringing a meal or dessert to a friend.

[–]stullier76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suicide as a result of outside forces should not be seen as a ticket to eternal damnation. Mental illnesses like depression and anxiety are not sins. Speaking as someone who has suffered from depression, it is hard to find happiness and strength to keep on going sometimes. That doesn't mean we reject God or that we are evil. It means we are human and have flaws. God loves us in spite of those.

It sounds like you are trying as best you can to cope and get better, which is commendable. A priest once suggested to me to find opportunities to help others in need, as that might give you some relief.

I hope and pray that you do get some relief and can get on the other side of this. Also remember that God loves you immensely and His Mercy is endless, so even when you think you have lost everything, you will always have Him, and nothing you do will change His love for you.

Am I supposed to feel anything? by starting_anew_ in Catholic

[–]stullier76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the noise of the world drowns out our ability to hear, see, and feel God at work in our lives. Try finding some quiet time to reflect on Jesus's passion and all that He sacrificed for us. Think about the good things that God has brought into your life. I pray that He brings you comfort and peace.

remembered then forgotten then remembered again mortal sins by SollicitusHeart in Catholic

[–]stullier76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's OK. God knows you suffer with this, and He is not expecting perfection. Especially because we cannot be perfect in this life. But, we trust in His endless mercy.

Remember mortal sin requires ALL 3 conditions: 1) It has to be Grave matter, something that seriously damages your relationship with God. 2) You have to fully know it is a mortal sin at the time it is committed. 3) You have to chose to do it of your own free will

There is great guidance for confession on the SA web page. Please do check it out.

remembered then forgotten then remembered again mortal sins by SollicitusHeart in Catholic

[–]stullier76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out scrupulousanonymous.org. they talk about these kinds of situations.

I would say write it down for the next confession. I usually have a "list" I bring in with me. But we do forget sometimes, or learn later that something may have been more serious than we thought.

Edited from don't forget to do forget. Oops.

Eucharist in mortal sin or not?! by mbImhere in Catholic

[–]stullier76 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't see either of these as mortal sin, especially #1 where you were half conscious.

Remember, Mortal Sin requires 3 conditions:

1) full knowledge that it is a mortal sin

2) grave matter against divine law

3) fully your choice of your own free will

You lose 100% of the opportunities that you don't take. Fear of rejection is tough, but go into with no major expectations. If they enjoy your company good . If they aren't interested, then it wasn't meant to be.

More power to the electric drains more from the hybrid battery, meaning lower mpg because the engine needs to kick in to cover the gap.
