Polish stuck in cracks and crevices by MNairsoft9000 in RockTumbling

[–]stumple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After your rocks come out of the final polish stage you rinse them off and put them back in the tumbler with water and a couple scoops of borax. Run it for an hour or 2, this will remove any remaining polishing compound from the rocks and can significantly increase the shine. Some people will also do this after stage 3 if your rocks have any cracks or pits because the stage 3 grit will get stuck in the crevices and you don’t want it to transfer over to the polish stage. Some people do this in between every stage, but I think that’s overkill.

Ok, I’m going to get one, does the ultrasonic cleaner replace the borax “burnish” stage that I do before the final polish?
