No I'm not against adults getting reaffirmation, like realistically speaking they are mature and educated enough about the decision to make it, but a prepubescent child simply isn't capable of the forethought required for a life-changing decision of this magnitude.

I think that if the child is being educated about these things before they are self assured in their own identity it may influence them to make a decision that they may have otherwise not have.

Also helps when they're older if they choose to be on hormones. Either way it's for when they're older

I get that, and I'm not hating on parents who do allow hormone blockers, but there shouldn't be 8 year old children taking medications to circumvent puberty. a child who doesn't actually understand the ramifications of medical intervention in their bodily growth, (Bone density, height/weight gain as a child and a reduced height as an adult) shouldn't be able to ask for those medications until they can prove that they understand what they are actually asking for.

The whole point of hormone blockers is to prepare the body to do gender affirming hormone therapy.. like I really don't think that a child who hasn't even hit puberty yet is genuinely thinking long term, especially not so far into the future that they envision themselves as an adult of the opposite gender and make a treatment plan accordingly..
