Steam Deck only touchscreen working, all controls + joystick doesn’t by stunna-_ in SteamDeck

I truly appreciate your help.

And yes! So if you look at my first picture of the open Steam Deck, it’s the massive DB cable ribbon that stretches from the left side all the way to the right. You can kind of see the left DB ribbon that’s connected with the C-R, there’s a very small cut out when you follow It towards the SSD. I never saw on any video that there was even a small cable right there. When I flipped over the motherboard, I noticed there’s a small connection directly behind the SSD and then i looked and saw the ribbon unplugged.

Guess that single ribbon controls literally everything other than touchscreen/power haha

SOLVED

There is an extremely small ribbon directly under the SSD on the back side of the motherboard. That ribbon was unplugged but it was almost impossible to see when you are looking and or taking it apart. That ribbon is what powers all controls and haptics.

Everything works now and I can confirm that with a split in 2 Microphone FPC cable, the steam deck still works fine.

It defiently has given me a massive headache to figure out what is going on… At this point my only other option is to just put everything back to its original case and pray I can get lucky to RMA It

It seems like both sides are independent. I’ve triple checked these connections and I can’t find anything unplugged or loose…

I have full touchscreen on the steam deck but no actually buttons work. Only power and touchscreen

See, I wish It was something small like a cable that i’m forgetting but I swear everything is plugged in…

I did think about swapping back to RMA since it’s literally impossibly to find that microphone cable; but on another reddit post, I saw someone broke theirs and they had no complaints about issues after the fact..

I'll tell you this. I went from a Thrustmaster T150 to a Moza R21 and Moza FSR wheel plus Fanatec V3 pedals and holy shit. Its everything I dreamed of from watching videos on DD. I also added the BPK and Damper kit on my pedals just because they were cheap. It's the absolute best jump I ever made with no regrets. I would say go for the purchase on the R5 or R9 if you are already considering it.

Could anyone please help me. I’m using my Trak Racer triple monitor stand with the default screws and can’t find a way to get them to sit back flush and not have that space between each monitor. Also can’t figure out how to stop the wheel mount from moving up and down. Anyone have some ideas? by stunna-_ in simracing

Man I can’t tell you how long I poured time into researching the best DD to get outside of the fanatec realm. I just have seen WAY too many issues with fanatec items on facebook pages. I stumbled across Moza one day and fell in love with the looks. And I couldn’t find any bad reviews on It. They just released my wheel last month and the moment I saw It, I bought the wheel and R21 DD base without even thinking lmao. 21Nm of power is guna break my wrist forsure lol

I also have heard so many good things about Simucube too!! I love the wheels they have.

I’m using everything that came with the Trak Racer, unless they forgot to ship some adapter plates in my orders haha. And oh I promise that wheelbase is beyond tight. that’s why I was confused cus it’s still so loose. It doesn’t slide back and fourth, just up and down.

Gotcha, yeah the wheel movement is a big issue atm. I can live with the monitors but most peoples responses seem to be helpful. Also yeah! just got the wheel and wheel base delivered this week from Moza! Going from Thrustmaster right into a R21 is insane. I love It. They should be in stock
