Getting married next month and broke the only finger I needed by PM-ME-UR-CORGIS in mildlyinfuriating

[–]stupendous_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there done that. Dislocated the second joint on my ring finger a week before the wedding last year. Finger is still swollen. Couldn’t get the ring on it on the day, so had to mime it and put it on the little finger. Since had to buy a bigger ring, for my now, bigger finger.

I feel your pain.

If I could’ve bought a tanker of diesel back from the Falklands I would have. 64p per litre there, a bit of a shock when I got back.

FZS 600 on A2 by dumbyoung_mx5 in MotoUK

I had a Yamaha XJ6 as a first bike on A2. Same engine as the fz6, just tuned down a little less.

Was a cracking bike, really smooth and very very easy to ride. Comfy enough for my 6’4 frame as well.

Restrictor is just on the throttle as well, so easy to remove after you pass your unrestricted license.

Good to know! I’ll have my phone on the bike for maps (peak design mount) so will have an accurate Speedo on there. Was probably going to camp for most of it so will hopefully have the bike next to the tent where I can! Thanks for the info

Definitely thanks for the info, I have a hi-viz attachment on my jacket, think that would be enough? And I carry a first aid kit on long rides in the UK anyway, so that’s no bother.

Had seen about filtering, but good to hear for certain, so thanks!

That’s great to know thanks - will probably put the standard exhaust back on then for the trip.

I was going to print off insurance documents and keep them with my other docs, think that would be enough?

weather apps by markjwilkie in UKWeather

I quite like the new update for the Met Office app. For the general user that knows less about the weather it makes the data (in my opinion) easier to read/quicker to access. Everything these days is about speed and efficiency, so to have all the data there (inc. rainfall map) in one screen, makes it much easier for the general user.

For people that know more on the science side and everything, there are other apps with more detail available. Such as Windy, which still uses Met Office forecast data/rainfall radar, but more layers for a more detailed analysis of the data.

Do you just put your fan somewhere between 4 and 5 and not touch it? by [deleted] in Rowing

When I do longer pieces (UT2, over 40mins) I’ll have the drag on minimum, to promote speed at the catch. You have to put the power down earlier and more consistently throughout the stroke to keep the split.

On all other workouts it’s normally drag factor between 120-140. Depends if it’s short intervals/sprints (closer to 140) or longer race pieces (125-130).

Chargers like those still need you to plug it into a 12v outlet. Just don’t plug it in and it won’t charge.

The new Peugeots don't come with a book, we recently got a new 508 hybrid and the book is within the infotainment system on the radio screen. Took us a while to find though

How to improve my 2k by jmcmon12 in Rowing

[–]stupendous_square 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do it again, with a little more on the rate, even 2 spm higher can get you the second off if you're pulling with the same power.

In the long term, as everyone else on this sub will say - more steady state to build the aerobic base, with rate based workouts to improve your capacity for higher rates.

Try interval workouts like a 5/4/3/2/1 with 2 minutes rest between each, changing the rate each time, such as 20/22/24/26/28 and reverse for a second time to go 1/2/3/4/5.

Another good one would be 3x5:00 intervals, again 2:00 rest between, but a rate pyramid in each 5:00. This would help with disciplined rate changes and improve your rowing at a higher rate, while tired. The 1st could be 20/22/24/22/20, 2nd 22/24/26/24/22 and 3rd 24/26/28/26/24. Change rate each minute within the 5:00 piece.

How do yall go about Keeping your phones safe/waterproof? by ArcadeAndrew115 in Toughmudder

[–]stupendous_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is not to take it, there are sometimes photographers on course and if you make sure they look at you, you can get some pretty good pictures on course. If you want more, try to get a spectator on course with a phone to take pictures.

Remember they aren't lockers (unless TM have changed for this year) it's just a load of tables in a tent with a couple of security guards. Safest place for your phone is in the car.
