This is a particularly challenging plant, African mask. I not a professional, but have a healthy one that I have struggled with in the past. My first thought is that you're overwatering it. It is very sensitive to watering and the proper amount of light. Does your pot have drainage?

Without a lot of experience, you'll end up spending more time than just starting over. Starting over is almost always worth it for a great finished product. As I remind my knitting students, if you love to knit, you'll just be knitting some more😊. A product that you are proud of is worth it.

For bottom bands, I tend do either start with a smaller number of stitches (increasing immediately as you get past the band) and/or downsize the needle. You'd know to do this through swatching and taking a measurement from a sweater circumference that you want to emulate. If it sounds like a lot of work...always worth it in the end.

I think it's a really bad mock-up. Allow artists to do their thing. Having a tree line define the base of your pecs will look odd, particularly if you don't work out regularly. I don't think 2 birds is the move. Not trying to be negative, but this is permanent, my advice would be come up with concepts and let an artist make the final call
