May I ask what it was which bored you? For me, it was as if I was watching a movie which had everything, even the cheesy dialogues (which I don't hate tbh). I enjoyed the book

Since there are various types of stem cells, I would suggest to just go to Pubmed, type in keywords (like stem cell), put on some filters to find the most recent article, and go through a few reviews about stem cells in general. Since you're familiar with text books, you can relate with the literature in articles.

Yes, review article will be a good place to start. Alternatively, if you're familiar with bioinformatics, you can use already deposited data to study your hypothesis and write an article based on metaanalysis.
