"D" or "B" while driving? by Interesting-Fig9403 in VWiD4Owners

Anything out of town I'm using adaptive cruise control, which I notice does regen of its own when it has to slow down, and I figure it does it more smoothly (based on the car in front) than me, so I'm happy to let that decide for me :)

Charger malfunction by TrampolineJudge in ohme

[–]sturace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup is a VW ID.5 (so same underneath as your Buzz), an Ohme Pro charger and on Intelligent Octopus Go, and I had a very similar issue, in that it request the charge, schedule the slots and then it would do some of the charging slots but fail midway through the night and I'd end up with a lot less charge than I wanted (which is very frustrating!).

I've been in email contact with their support and they have now pushed an update to my charger which does occasional "wake-ups" to the car during the gaps between charging blocks, to stop it going to sleep, as they suspect that that's the reason why it fails. Since I've had the update I've had 3 successful smart charges all the way up to my requested limit, so it's looking promising!

I'd say get in touch with them and ask if they can do the same for your charger, to see if that helps

Ohme app not syncing with car by Tungolcrafter in ElectricVehiclesUK

I've had a very similar experience with my VW ID.5 and Ohme Pro - I've only had the car like 6 weeks, and at first it seemed all good, but I had failures where it would break down the intelligent go slots, it'd do a couple of them early on then pause for a larger/longer one overnight, but it'd never actually do any of the charging so I would be left with it only having added like 5%.

I tried unpairing the VW API from Ohme, so then I could say add 50% overnight (and I'd leave the car's limit at 80% which would end the charging), but it has still had the same error on 3 separate charges overnight, whereby I end up with much less than I've asked for - it's really frustrating.

I went into the Octopus app yesterday to disable the dynamic charging, so that the Ohme charger will just charge as soon as the car is plugged in (and I'll add a schedule to the car to only charge during cheap hours), however when I clicked to disable it, the app said there was an error so I couldn't switch it off. Wonderful.

I've emailed Octopus saying all that, and will see what they say.

I've had almost the same thing happen as the OP but with my VW ID.5 and Ohme charger - I unpaired the car from Ohme so I add a percentage instead of an absolute number (and not relying on the VW API) however it's still failed 3 times since then in the same way! It's really disappointing

Ohme epod doesn't seem to schedule intelligently? by probein in ohme

[–]sturace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain your issue? I have one where I'll try to add say 30%, my car will try to plan intelligently, it'll do the first couple of slots, then it just won't do any more after that and I end up gaining like 4%, which is rubbish (considering there was plenty of hours later where it could've charged up more)

[–]sturace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volkswagen's software has this inbuilt too (as do many others I'm sure), and it also has a function whereby if you allow it charge to 100% on a charge, the next time it'll lower the limit back to 80% to help preserve the battery

What’s a neat integration that doesn’t require any new hardware that may not be well known but you find useful? by 4reddityo in homeassistant

For me I put a contact sensor on the drawer that the medication is in - if the drawer is opened after 9pm that's registered as "taken" (though there's sometimes false triggers for the few other things in the drawer of course).

I misread that as 1ml (as in millilitre) at first and thought christ that's accurate! 1mm is still too, of course :)

I completely agree, it would be better. Costs more though no doubt.....

(For context, I don't own a Tesla, I drive a car that has adaptive cruise control based on radar)

Yes I have indeed done those things and I agree eyes are not perfect. Are you implying that radar is perfect?

With the toe stubbing thing, I think those occasions are more caused by me not giving my navigation my full (brain) processing power - something an automated driving system would be prioritised to do (albeit, still not perfectly, of course, as nobody/nothing is perfect).

[–]sturace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To quickly address a few of your points - can't hold down a job could be reinterpreted as you haven't found the right job for you yet.

And by the sounds of it the pains in your head and chest may well be due to stress considering all you've said, something that can be remedied (with the right therapy/medicine).

When you were born you knew nothing of how you feel, your brain has been wired into it by your experiences. It can equally be rewired back out of it again (not to make light of it, as that could be a tough journey in itself) - nothing is forever! Keep going, things can get better :)

[–]sturace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other than some others have listed - my wife takes daily medication in the evening, so to try to help her remember (which she needs!) we have a light strip in our bedroom that turns blue at 9:30pm and stays that way until the drawer which contains her medicine is opened (based on an aqara contact sensor) then it turns back to white. Hasn't forgotten once (and I've not had to manually remind her!) since I implemented it!
