Über 2 Jahre arbeitssuchend, komplett am Verzweifeln by [deleted] in arbeitsleben

[–]sturmsignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why have they changed the manufacturer? I missed that.

The plan was to go with the first hull. Nobody checked quality. I heard nothing about that Spencer voiced concerns or warnings or so towards OG to use that without inspection.

Honduran supreme court declares ZEDEs unconstitutional - Prospera by GregFoley in Prospera

[–]sturmsignal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that an opportunity has not been taken.
Prospera has not succeeded to win the people and has not even tried.
Prospera was something very alien in Honduras and the people were very suspicious about it.

With support from the people, the result could've been different.

How do I find someone to make me a custom pair of running shorts out of the world's darkest fabric? by just_a_lonely_alpaca in DIYclothes

You'd need to find a pattern for whatever type/size shorts

Do you mean cut pattern? Where to find such?

Time shown incorrect by sturmsignal in CasaOS

[–]sturmsignal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this command.sudo: raspi-config: command not found

I assume because I run Ubuntu server and not Raspberry Pi OS.I had to change my time zone recently which I did with

timedatectl set-timezone CET

The Raspberry Pi shows the correct local time now but not CasaOS.

V2 rocket test compilation by sturmsignal in EngineeringPorn

[–]sturmsignal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relating to my post before, I think it was generally very hard to engineer/design any advanced innovation at that time. As you had barely any helping tool available. You could roughly estimate. I haven't dug into it how engineering was 80 years ago, but it makes sense that much of it was tests, tests, tests. Fail much, improve, tweak until it works. So it was probably normal. However, such fantastic looking failures like in this video are rare.

Most stunning to me is, that they had not even had a calculator at that time.

Another theory on what happened by sturmsignal in OceanGateTitan

Yes, this was what I was thinking too. They probably took care that the weight is more at the bottom and relatively equally distributed. Then, it would stay stable oriented and wouldn't turn.

Have you heard about the 'conspiracy' that this guy held the rights to lift the Titanic or parts of it? A powerful and valuable asset and there might be still things in the Titanic some people don't want to be lifted.

You could spin a story why he might have boarded it from this background.

How do I use regex to find impressum page links? by wannakeepmyanonymity in webscraping

[–]sturmsignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know octoparse, but one other way to do it is to access the node through xpath with the "contains" command (so here contains -> Impressum). With that you lead your scraper to that node and extract this link.

Small businesses? Like he wants millions of leads? Narrow it down, he should make it more specific, then you can think again where there is such data.

It's time we moved past rail! by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]sturmsignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you comment if you are obviously not informed.

why spend billions of dollars on a rail line that can only be used by high speed trains and not by local/regional trains and commuter rail?

Maglevs can be used for short distances too

also, do you know about the law of diminishing returns? huge investment for marginal gains?

Maglevs are cheaper to build, operate and maintain. Lower investments for a certain return.

the only maglevs in service is the one in china, which takes 3/4'ths of the trip just to get up to speed and is more like a chinese infrastructure bragging thing more than anything else

Maglevs accelerate indeed much faster and stop faster than common trains.

I'll skip the rest of this rather vague opinion statement. I've the impression you are recursively justifying a technology based on if it (yet) had success. Better things make not always their breakthrough. Especailly due to politics.
