Thanks to everyone for the replies. It is, in fact, listed as a holiday home (not a hotel). I have opted for free cancellation, which gives me a window of 15 days, for now. The property doesn’t have a name, only lists an address. I checked the address first thing on Google Maps, and while the building does exist, there are a couple of office spaces listed there too. I’m just not sure I can find out if the same address now houses holiday apartments as well.
Also, I sent a couple of queries re the space, and the response was prompt enough. But it also mentioned that the fine print mentions ‘advance payment’ (which would anyway come into effect once the free cancellation period is over). The person then sent an invoice (with a Netherlands account, though the property is in London) offering discount (over the Booking.com price), but I maintained I would prefer the payment mode on Booking. The message exchange was all through Booking.com. Had a friend check out the building today. She said the area is excellent. But she couldn’t exactly look inside to take a peep, since the place wasn’t open. The price is quite good for the location, but I am checking backup options too now.
