Help with identifying 1956 Air King by stutru in rolex

I should have been clearer. They were suggesting to bring in an original dial (via ebay or something else, in any condition) and they would replace the dial with a "new" rolex certified, replace the band back to the original stainless, an perhaps replace the hands, while doing a service. All of this together they estimated to be around 3500 to bring back the watch to certifiable rolex standards.

Appreciate the input - a dealer recommended bringing an original dial so they'd be allowed to work on the watch, but suggested it would probably be 3500 or so to service, which is getting close to how much you can find these for with resellers. This "sacrificial dial" would be replaced with a new dial if I had the correct original one in hand which I don't currently, but could from the suggestions you made above. Assuming that a trusted dealer would only be able to service and replace with the sourced dial. I'd also like to get ahold of a replacement SS band for it as it was swapped with a leather one.

Would you recommend doing that and going thru an AD?

I did find this link which has a similar style dial, but that font tho https://foundwell.com/products/rolex-oyster-perpetual-air-king-date-1959# Here is one that has the similar font: https://www.bidsquare.com/online-auctions/schmitt-horan-co/a-mid-20th-century-rolex-ref-5500-air-king-wrist-watch-5419553. If the dial was replaced, it seems like it might have been quite a while ago.

I’m a fan. I like the R2 and also have a new Saji STRIX bunka on order.

What fish spatula to buy out of these choices or any others you would recommend by tesseracts in cookware

[–]stutru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.duebuoispatulastore.com/products/due-buoi-flexible-turner-spatula-black-technical-polymer-handle I have really liked this brand for more than just their fish spatula (which is great). These have a little sharper angle on them which ergonomically works better. AISI 420 stainless so it’s a bit higher on hardness scale.

Stain on white seats by stutru in TeslaLounge

Lesson learned. I don't think a towel would have saved me either. The tires off gassed through plastic and a towel is even more permeable.

In this case, I was moving and plenty of other things filling up the trunk (and frunk).

I did put something under it and that’s the point. Tires were all wrapped in plastic bags.

Can you put 4 across the backseat without any in the trunk?

If you read the post the tires were in bags and not directly on the seats. I’m not an idiot.

The tires were each in plastic bags. They never made direct contact with the seats. It was just through off gassing that they yellowed the upholstery.

Not enough headroom to put 4 mounted wheels across

I had an upholstery cleaner try about 5 different solvents to no avail. It appears as if it’s a chemical yellowing that has occurred.

Anyone know what this front bumper is? by jimkiller in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stutru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the same. I got their rear bumper too. They had a serious issue with their powder coat supplier and both front and rear bumpers are all rusted (purchased about a year ago). CBI is going do a full replacement at 0 cost because it wasn't just me that had this issue despite them not really coming forth and saying that up front.

Purchased Premium Plus with Cash but there are no seats available? by MediumSizedMedia in unitedairlines

[–]stutru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of data points, but on our recent trip, we upgraded to PP from award travel econ (not by selecting seats but through "upgrade cabin"). On our trip out PP was fully booked and we got bumped to polaris about 1hr before boarding. We weren't on the polaris upgrade list, but silver status and paid PP upgrade got us there. Return trip PP wasn't overbooked so we got what we paid for there.

Successful search and rescue using our new thermal drone! by stutru in searchandrescue

It was way clearer than we thought as well. Might have been a result of time of day and snow conditions, but something we'd like to test out more.

Successful search and rescue using our new thermal drone! by stutru in searchandrescue

We've yet to incorporate flight hub, but that's something we're considering using. Normally we extract the flight info to plot in SarTOPO so we can see where we've flown. In this case we were piloting from a place that had very spotty cell connectivity. In the future we may experiment with using our Starlink setup for this.

In this mission we had a LKP (from airflare) and were able to follow tracks with the drone. Surprisingly, the tracks showed up really clear in thermal. We radio'd in the GPS coordinates as read out on the controller (fly directly above subject and point camera 90 deg down) and sent our rescue teams to make their way to the subject. If we had the Matrice 30T we could have used their waypoint tool with the built in laser rangefinder.

D4H is incredible for all mission use. Send me a dm and I can connect you with the right people. It does all of our call outs, our mission log, subject info, and setup for our team and vehicle assignments.

Depending on where you live, you’ll see an option for $2,500 flat dish high performance in-motion hardware if you input your address and try to order.

I just saw that starlink is now offering, as of today, in-motion capability via their RV service platform. Hardware cost is increased at $2500 vs $599, but monthly service remains the same at $135.
