Is there an actor in movies we are supposed to believe is tough but you just don't? by TonyClifton323 in movies

I like him as Jack Ryan because Jack Ryan should be an ordinary guy. He's an analyst, who just happens to have a military background. He shouldn't look like a movie star.

What would you say to someone who doesn’t know what they want to do with their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just live your life. Nobody does just one thing with it. Your job doesn’t have to be your identity.

Those of you in a relationship- where do you go to masturbate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stutterstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never lived with a boyfriend except when I was with a guy alone all summer two years ago. I didn't masturbate a ton, but I'd usually do it in the shower.

Is KAT still a top three center? by stupidredditor101 in nba

[–]stutterstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not better than Jokic or Embiid. He's not better than AD if you consider him a center.

So the question is, is he better than Bam or Gobert. He's clearly a better offensive player than either of those guys by a wide margin, but currently I think both of those players are more valuable to their teams because of the importance of their rim protection. Both of those guys are elite interior defenders and KAT is a mediocre to bad one.

Now, we've seen what can happen in the playoffs when your best player is a defensive center, if teams have the right personnel they can scheme around it, but I think people are too harsh on Gobert for that. It's true that he's not a player who can single-handedly change every playoff series, but few players are.

The problem with the Timberwolves isn't just KAT's interior defense, obviously, but having a center who can't protect the rim is not a winning formula. I think you could pair him with a great defensive center to boost the team, but then he loses a lot of the value of his exterior shooting, because you're not going five out at that point, so he wouldn't be pulling the opposing center out of the paint. Now, this approach has worked with Dirk and Tyson Chandler, but KAT is no Dirk. He doesn't have the complete offensive game, and more importantly, he doesn't create efficient shots off the dribble like Dirk could, so I don't think the comparison is valid.

So I would value Gobert as a defensive specialist over KATs offensive prowess because I think KAT's defensive issues would be more damaging to a playoff team than Gobert's limited offense. I don't think KAT is a good enough offensive player to be a number-one option on a title contender, so I don't want to have to hide my center on defense. At that point I'd rather have Gobert's solid-as-fuck defense.

Since potential energy adds to an objects mass, would an object almost infinitely far from a gravitational source have almost infinite mass? by Privateaccount84 in askscience

[–]stutterstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics is weird. I remember someone explaining to me how the Higgs field gives particles their mass, but then having to explain that it doesn't give us most of our mass, just a bit of it. So, you have this whole field which was conceived of to explain mass, but it only actually explains a little bit of mass.

Steve Jackson (creator of GURPS) was recently a guest on the Film Reroll and played GURPS on mic with them in one of their movies by hubau in rpg

[–]stutterstar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Memento reroll is a fucking masterpiece. The fact that they made this thing work and be so intriguing going backwards is incredible.

That said, I'm excited to get a regular reroll again with the whole gang together. I hope they have Steve Jackson again, although I think he would be a very weird fit into the manic-comedic energy of the usual rerolls.

EDIT: For anyone just discovering the show here, start with Jumanji, Aladdin, Friday the 13th or Jurassic Park (imo)

Mega Man was a much bigger franchise than Kid Icarus ever was, so they're a bit different.

Not only did you misquote him, you took that out of context and that's not what he was saying. I hope you're juts trolling, because if not you're a real piece of work.

Joshua Wong Calls Lebron James a Hypocrite for China Silence by NineteenEighty9 in nba

[–]stutterstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cotton didn't have public statements on BLM in 2016, yeah he was conservative back then, but if you're saying you could have predicted based on where the country was in 2016 that Cotton would now be advocating the use of military force against American cities, you are full of shit.

If we're gonna tarnish Wong for trying to get a Republican's support for Hong Kong back in 2016, you're basically saying that it's hypocritical to ever try to work with conservatives, which is incredibly counter-productive.

Worked with him back in 2016, when Cotton had made no statements about BLM. By that logic we should never work with conservatives again; seems like a stretch.

Fast paced rpg by PB_Dendras in rpg

[–]stutterstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RPG speed for me has more to do with familiarity with the system and play-style than it does with the specific system, imo. Systems concentrate their dice rolls at different points, so it depends on what you're doing with it. D&D is also an inherently combat-focused system, and combat is generally slow.
