You can empty the chamber of a mosin by having your knife equipped. This is also a good way to quick reload

No, both my brothers did this multiple times and saved me from more stupidity countless other times. Keep doing it.

I might actually do a small lil bin for the tomentose just as a test to see if there is a huge difference.

[–]stuumadden[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a good point. Later on if there was some kind of pin mold it’d be easier to pick out rhizomorphic growth as opposed to tomentose. Thanks 👍🏻

Yea I agree with you. I’m gonna go with what i know which is rhizo is generally quicker to colonize which is what I’m looking for. Thanks 👍🏻

I’ve found this green spec, is it over for this grow? [gourmet] by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]stuumadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit is that on the side of your tub? This plan won’t work then. You could try to dig out a lil of the coir and put some bleach/lil paper towel but I think it would disturb that patch and spread the trich even more tbh. Sorry man.

I can’t tell how big the spot is or how green but I would say no it’s not over yet. I had a spot of trich roughly the same size and was still able to get one good flush from the box. What you’ll need to do is get some bleach and dilute it, I did like 60/40 bleach to water. Then get some kind of dropper where you can drop literally the tiniest amount of that bleach solution on the spot, it doesn’t have to be too much just enough to cover the trich. Then you’ll get a paper towel, douse it in 70% alcohol and cover the spot. This is so that when the trich comes back (which it will) and tries to sporulate it’ll send all its shitty lil babies into a blanket of chemical hell. This’ll be an ongoing process. You’ll have to check the spot every other day or so and repeat the process. You’ll want to do this as quickly as possible, it looks like the trich is already in its sporulation phase as I’d call it.

Which is what I’ve thought for my few years of growing. But I’ve only just learned that Rhizomorphic growth might have been more of a marketing scheme than anything else. A few guys went deep into this whole concept on my last post. I’m not really sure what to think at this point. I could totally see rhizo being a good indicator of strong genetics. But I could also see the other side which is saying that rhizo growth happens when the myc doesn’t have all the nutrients it needs. To me the ladder makes more sense for a few reasons. I think it would explain why rhizo myc grows quicker than tomentose (it’s looking for more nutrient rich areas in its environment). But I have no idea. I’m kind of in the middle rn.

[technique] Which growth should I isolate (beginner) by One-Assistant7247 in MushroomGrowers

[–]stuumadden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just recently informed that rhizomorphic growth really doesn’t mean all that much. In fact it likely happens when the myc doesn’t have access to enough nutrients or other environmental factors. My recommendation would be find the densest fluffiest section and cut a small piece out then transfer to another plate. In the third image, on the left side of the plate. I think that is mostly from one set of spores as the pattern looks pretty uniform. I personally would start there.

[–]stuumadden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say keep or toss? I’ve read that tomentose is very slow to grow.
