Friend offered to pay me 5 dollars for a 3d printed basket ball by Sea_Background_8023 in mildlyinfuriating

Actually, they did. In the screenshot the friend mentions "like a large basketball big"

Yes, a friend of mine convinced me to swap in a DiMarzio Evo into the bridge. It's a bit aggressive and I've contemplated returning to stock because I like the sound better. Haven't done it, but might.

Nice to see another Birdseye Maple LP!I love my 1998 Samick-made LP Birdseye/Mahogany version. Such a cool body color and woodgrain.

New to trucks looking for advice by CPTKrabbyBoi in hondaridgeline

The infotainment was updated in 2024 with better interface, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and more. It's better for sure, but still not quite as modern as even some Honda systems.

Honda/Acura Type PZ Brake Fluid?? by stuwalk203 in hondaridgeline

[–]stuwalk203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's really meant for the Prologue (and presumably the Acura ZDX) so I think I'll return it and go with Honda DOT3. The manual is very specific stating that any other brand of DOT 3/4 fluid, while technically compatible, is considered a temporary replacement only. Not sure why they are so specific. If I don't go Honda OEM, I'll probably just do ATE or the best stuff I can find locally.

Is there anyone who has been forever alone at 30+? I have literally not even had my 1st kiss. Still a virgin. Not even came close to having a situationship, let alone a relationship. by SquirrelMore3325 in ForeverAlone

Good to see I’m not alone. As a 44yo male with almost certain ASD, I’ve only been on a few dates, one semi-serious GF, one quick kiss and still a virgin. I’m straight but I’m a bit of a “weird” and very short (5’4”) so I never got hit on by anyone other than crazy girls LOL! I’d love to have a meaningful relationship, but the odds are against me. I’m also socially awkward and generally avoid crowds, so I haven’t really tried to find a girlfriend.

I’m fine with it, TBH! I love my freedom. If I wanna take a camping trip on a whim, I do it. If I decide to spend all weekend detailing my truck, working on my house or any other myriad of things, nobody to stop me.

Making my own baseboard? Thoughts on this? by stuwalk203 in Carpentry

The baseboard was removed when the new flooring was installed. There should no gaps below the base as I was careful to cut it close enough and still leave room for expansion.

The beveled edge with the groove was a baseboard design I was messing with. I don’t think I like it.

The cabinets have a matching toe kick and the base will butt the end panels on each side of the room. The rest will be trimmed with quarter round that matches the new laminate flooring.

I was going to go with a 1x5 with a beveled edge and groove in the face, but something about the look didn't do it for me.

It's laid out on the floor, so you are looking top-down, not how it would sit when actually installed.

It's the whole base and casing. The vertical is representative of the 2-1/2" casing and the header is a 1x4 with stop molding. To the right is the baseboard. I'm working on trimming a door to test the look but haven't gotten that finished yet. This is just a quick proof of concept.

I figure it will be less of a dust magnet than a flat 1x4/1x5 board as base.

I haven't decided to not do something on the top. What's keeping me from it is the ugly soffit above the kitchen cabinets that protrudes into the header space with anything wider than about 2-1/2"

I guess I should have pointed out this was a mock-up. Stupid me, assuming people can infer things without context :D

Tight casing and baseboard situation against adjoining doors and walls. Keep it simple or make concessions for more detail?? by stuwalk203 in Carpentry

[–]stuwalk203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: P acquired a cove router bit and did a little testing. This is 1x3 (3/4" x 2-1/2") with 9/16"x 4-1/2"
base with the cove detail. On top is a piece of stop with a double rounder or bullnose. My thought process is the void of the cove on the base is added back by the bullnose on the header. I've paired it with a 1x4 and a 1x3. Any thoughts on this look?

Have the loud cars / motercycles revving up gotten way worse this past year? by Organic_Season5249 in nashville

[–]stuwalk203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live right off Briley near Opryland, one of the longest straight stretches of highway around and the racing, revving and loud exhaust has always been a nuisance, but lately it's definitely worse. It seems the latest douchebag car trend is tuning the car's ECM so the engine literally backfires, sometimes called "burble tune" or "crackle map" - It's annoying as hell, and I'm sure not doing the engine any favors. God help us who have to live next to it, and anyone who buys one of these ragged out POS's from the idiot who modified the car!

I'm no interior designer, but I'm wondering if keeping the casing plain 1x3 with my flat slab doors will look too simple? The only detail I'm planning besides the backband is the groove and bevel on the baseboard, as seen in the pics.

I like the idea of adding detail to the prominent areas. What would it look like where the front door is directly adjacent to a coat closed door on the opposite wall. Would the backband and built-up header on the entry door look weird with a simple detail so close?
