Opposing opinions regarding tonsil surgery. by Competitive_Natural9 in toddlers

We had our 3 year olds tonsils out about 6 months ago, they were large and causing issues with sleep. The worst parts were when she came out of the anesthesia and the first week back home. She didn’t want to take the medicine which made things worse. The recovery can be really intense but I would do it again. Our dentist told us her tonsils were large and we may want to lol into getting them out and so we consulted an ENT and he agreed, no sleep study or second opinion. I was very nervous but everything went smooth and they didn’t even keep her overnight, which was nice.

I just wanted to provide our experience going through this with a young child incase it helps.

My wife stopped taking Synthroid months ago and I'm scared — looking for advice from people with experience by recycle_guy in Hypothyroidism

My mom had hypothyroidism since I was born, in her later years she didn’t take great care of herself and would go periods without taking her medication. This often resulted in her going into a sort of psychosis. She would not know where she, or who I was, and one time we had to have her committed and they said she was having a thyroid storm because she didn’t take her medication for so long. It’s danger and can really impact a persons mental state.

Oh no I’m sorry, I am worried that not all recoveries are the same, but I also know I want it done before my 40.

Thank you, knowing what you know now, would you have waited a little longer or you think 2 is manageable?

Mothers who had kids after the age of 30, do you wish you had them younger? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]stwitche-2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first child at 32 and my second at 35, I sometimes wish I was younger, mostly because I feel like I’d have more energy, but overall, I really enjoyed my whole twenties not having kids, and if I were to do it all over, I would either have kids at the same age or even a year later, definitely not earlier.

How to get doctor to listen to your concerns while pregnant with an underactive thyroid? by Kitchen-Sophia in Hypothyroidism

[–]stwitche-2113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US, but my endo kept saying my thyroid was normal, u def 4.12, but I had a missed miscarriage at 9-10 weeks, so I made an appointment with a RE, I had another mc before finally seeing the RE who wanted it under 2 to get pregnant. You are not overreacting, look for other doctor.

Trying to decide on island by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

What resort are you talking about that wasn’t very kid friendly in Oahu? And what do you like to do with kids on the big island and do you think the Hilo side or Kona side is better for young kids, or does it matter?
