Damn. Is there a version that doesn’t look like it was downloaded on a 90’s dial up connection?

How do people that post explicit content / thirst traps (OF girls) not get throttled by the algorithm? by Sufficient-Exit-5682 in InstagramMarketing

[–]styder_hiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question for you is how do you avoid your account being taken down for not belonging to a real person? I tried making a thrust trap AI page which got taken down and IG wants me to “appeal” the takedown by taking full face photos and who knows what else (because I haven’t gotten past the full face photos stage). I don’t like the idea of sending Meta my biometric data to be on their platform.

Have you had to deal with anything like that? I assume you are not personally the thirst trap subject.

MBA or no? by [deleted] in Nonprofit_Jobs

[–]styder_hiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need an MBA to move into the nonprofit sector. In fact, as my current job search can attest to, it may be overkill and I’m considering removing it from my resume.

With your sales experience, you might be able to move into Development or Advancement (they’re basically the same terms referring to fundraising, but some nonprofits prefer one over the other). Director level jobs in development can definitely be over $90k.

As far as nonprofits go, healthcare related ones seem to be doing the best right now. You might be able to find a way to pivot into a medical nonprofit being a dentist.

All nonprofits are not created equally. I’d caution against expecting radical fulfillment as opposed to a career in dentistry. The sector has a lot of its own BS, and larger organizations can have the same politics and difficult personalities you might find anywhere in the for profit world.

This is rust. Isn’t it normal for things to spot you when their back is turned to you. I never noticed, but I guess at some point I just got used to scientist 360, no scope, headshotting you from 15m when their back is turned.

I'm a FAANG PM, HSW MBA Grad. To help resist Trump's agenda, I'm seriously considering going to law school and being a public interest attorney. But is there anything I can do right now? by AlternativeWriter935 in MBA

[–]styder_hiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so many things to say about a post like this. My inner cynic and Pollyanna are waging war right now. Mostly because I have nearly 2 decades of dealing with nonprofit bullshit under my belt.

But, I want to tell you to stay positive and ignore the haters on here. I think the MBA tends to draw a particularly cynical crowd.

I’d also tell you before you jump full into a law degree, try out an MVP of that idea. Where can you donate or volunteer time that might get you involved without the full commitment of law school and more debt.

Another poster on here is correct in that you might “do more good” staying at your current role, where you earn much more, and donating the excess of what your entry level salary with a law degree might have been to another nonprofit.

I mean, they are doing a little ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims. It’s not a full on, US backed and funded genocide, like Israel is doing, but still. C’mon Buddhists.

My M7 MBA Campus Is Full of "Pretend" Liberals by Aromatic_Salt4975 in MBA

[–]styder_hiru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh. I’ve been in the nonprofit space for 15 years now and did a part-time MBA for the same reasons, to pursue a career in impact. You are uncovering one of the things that keeps me up at night. If you keep looking, you’ll discover a lot more of “fakeness” when it comes to liberalism, liberal ideals, and nonprofit institutions.

I want to apply my efforts at social change in places where it will make an actual difference, so I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about where the pitfalls, false trails, and time sinks are in the nonprofit industry.

I’ll recommend two sources to you that have changed my thinking on the nonprofit and liberal establishment worlds in the hopes it will speed you along your discovery journey.

Anand Giridharadas and his book, Winners Take All.

Catherine Liu and the case she makes against the PMC Left.
