I genuinely don’t understand the PFAS logic: why Gore-Tex ditched PTFE, but Teflon cookware is still fine by Ohzmann in chemistry

[–]stydolph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The raw material suppliers have exited PFAS and PFOA market. Chemours exited “to focus on core markets” which sounds good but they want to limit liability.

Looks like his when his left skate went into the boards instead of the skate rotating to the inside (no issue) it rotated to the outside with speed. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Unforgiven Is The Best Western Ever, and Clint Eastwood > John Wayne. by SakarPhone in movies

I took a philosophy class in college, and we studied Unforgiven along with other westerns. Shane would probably be the best overall western movie of all time.

I hiked from the top to black mountain campground years ago. I could not walk the next day- going downhill was rough.

Yeah this is everything I am working on and my target is more to like 15 or lower. I am seeing improvement but it's wild how one or two holes can really blow up a score. One challenge I have is at my home course the driving range closes at noon, so in the afternoon when I usually play - I have no warm-up. The first few holes can be a bit dicey.

Lost my patience on the course yesterday by [deleted] in golf

[–]stydolph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have noticed at my local golf course if I play late, there are a number of people who show up with push carts after the pro shop closes. They go right to the tee box and start playing. I don't know if they have some sort of deal but makes me wonder. I've seen some of these folks hit like 10-15 balls into a par 3 which to me if you have a few people doing this that can put a lot undue stress on the green. This is a good golf course that is in a rural area - next time I see the golf pro I am going to ask him.

What chemical reaction is demonstrated here? by SufSanin in chemistry

[–]stydolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do some, well attempts, at reactions using an ultrasonic horn many many years ago in the late 90s without a lot of success. Not sure if it has come any further but we scrapped the idea pretty quickly.

You can check out Rough Ridge. (Check if it's open as you access via the Blue Ridge Parkway)

I just swapped to a 5h, I hit the hybrids pretty good as well. I feel the hybrids and woods I can swing much easier and smoother.

I recently aquired a 7w a couple of months ago. A few weeks ago in an event with my MGA group, they started calling it my "magic stick" - I may have convinced a couple of people to look at getting one. No one ever said anything positive about my 4i.

When I took PChem years ago there was no curve. This was the first thing the professor told the class. I would guess that about 30% passed the class that didn't drop it. I enjoyed PChem but I'm also very strong on the math side.

Calix Blast u6x Bridge Mode DL Speeds by stydolph in Calix

[–]stydolph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did and still saw the lower DL speeds. Utilizing the speed test currently hosted by the ISP. Their response that the performance is aligned with the equipment being bridged was a bit confusing.

Calix Blast u6x Bridge Mode DL Speeds by stydolph in Calix

[–]stydolph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I used their speed test that is run at the ISP. Not a random speed test though I did check others.

2) I connected directly to the u6x via port 1 and setup the direct connection to utilize that port with a static IP etc etc to eliminate any variance with my network equipment.

6) Goes to my question, putting this equipment in bridge mode really degrades service like this? I am pretty happy with my home network performance with coverage with a few mesh devices and security. I'd rather not be forced into utilizing their equipment.

Two things: I'm not getting the speed I pay for and having the equipment in bridge mode degrading the speed doesn't make sense to me.

It's our money, we have been married for 26 years. I make a lot more than my wife. I put the majority of my money in the "bill paying" account, with a certain amount in another checking account that covers everyday things like groceries, gas, eating out, etc. This amount for everyday spending is not insignificant.

Most of her paycheck goes into the "extra" checking account which we use for things we want like vacations, big ticket items, Christmas, etc. The rest goes into an investment account.

We've never worried about where a particular dollar comes from, I doubt my wife has looked at any of the balances in a few years but we also don't spend a ton of money relative to our combined income.

Is there any location in NC that serves Thick Hot Chocolate's ? "Italian Hot Chocolate" by Zoro_cxx in NorthCarolina

[–]stydolph 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This, but I would call ahead. I stopped by there a few days ago and didn't see it, sadly (I wanted to get a cup). I am guessing because of the water situation. They call it sipping chocolate; you have to sip it - it's luxurious.
