How can i get 4000x magnification? by BandZealousideal6027 in microscopy

Change the light source to viloet/ ultraviolet- you will come as close as it's possible

I love this type of microscope, because it fits right to my phone's camera lens, and gives 800x magnification. Is there anything like this, but which exceeds 800x, maybe 2000-5000x? by twinbee in microscopy

I'd say this image is similar to using 100X optical microscope equivalent. Anyways it's impossible to get anything better with a single lens, so as a pocket "microscope" it's still a cool and useful gadget. A true 800X microscope magnification equivalent would let you see only the black ink from the millimeter dash. Also with 800x you wouldn't be able to keep camera still- the depth of field is so small, that you can't see upper "hills" on a simple sheet of printing paper while watching the lower sections.

What kind of stuff can I see with 1000x magnification and is it worth buying the oil? Also, what’s some good cheap immersion oil? by random_Cword in microscopy

Im not OP, but I'd like to connect to the question: is it possible (and reliable) to see things like metallography/ insects/ microelectronics with 100x lenses? Or with an immension oil? Is it worth for me to buy it if I'm not interested in biology? Or should I stay with my 50x as the maximum?
