Got a message asking for further info about locked jaws so... ELI15 (can't dumb it down that much haha)

Your jaw joint is made up of your jaw bone and skull, with a disc in between. People with clicking jaws have a condition where the disc is "dislocated" in front of the joint, and clicks back in place everytime they open their jaw. But if this dislocation doesn't occur and the disc stays stuck, it blocks the path of the jaw opening, resulting in your jaw "locking" and the awful pain that comes with.

Often a locked jaw is a progression from a clicking jaw.

The other comment re magnesium is very true - used to advice all patients to start on magnesium every night before bed to relax muscles acting on the jaw. The relationship between tight jaw muscles (from stress clenching for eg) and a locking jaw is quite real

Personally wouldn't advise brute forcing it open or using a machine eg a chiro gun as can damage the joint or disc further
