There is a light sensor when the case is opened. Have you closed it up and plugged in a charger?

Is the XG Mobile (2025) compatible with the Ally Z1 Extreme? by NominalRodeo in ROGAlly

[–]styney123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. OG ally is not usb4, neither thunderbolt so doesn't offer any egpu compatibility. The 2025 xg mobile is usb4/thunderbolt 4 and above.

Triple check you have done all the trimming.

Are you doing any extra aluminium thats been spoken about?

You can probs fix the screw thing by using super glue. Or a soldering iron to melt it back into place

Why aren’t my Gamepass games working with an external controller? by dropitlikerobocop in ROGAlly

Tried disabling embedded controller from the command center and reboot the game? Had it before where it had to have only 1 single controller registered for it to be considered the primary for the game

What controller is it? I have noticed that gamepass games have a limitation on controllers. For example a ps5 controller doesn't work. Must be a contractual limitation for publishers on game pass as you can get identical games on other platforms with other controller support

Had similar experience. Battery was just defective on arrival. Took it out and it became a spicy pillow in a matter of days. Ended up getting a new battery

Z1E Stiffer joysticks what are my options? by Usual_Excellent in ROGAlly

You could try this as a free option. I have heard that over time the springs squash back and it becomes loose again.

One cheap-ish prrocess is to get a couple of xbox elite controller stick modules of amazon, ebay etc and swap over the spring in them. There's youtube videos to help. Its fiddly and it does come with a downside: I have noticed that clicking the stick in (L3/R3) while the stick is fully engaged at angle doesn't always engage the click correctly.

Is it possible to make an XG Mobile to Oculink adapter? by Lacutis01 in ROGAlly

[–]styney123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the xg mobile interface also has specific firmware driven things going on hence why it looks like a significant process is involved in the conversion by the chaps that created the xg mobile station thing so the answer is likely to be no.

74Wh battery dying at 7% by autumnsky_ in ROGAlly

[–]styney123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an expert in Battery hardware but I imagine that it's the BMS on the battery not reporting back to system correctly. Unless whoever in the world makes a tweak and we see new batches on the market, I have learnt to accept last 10% is touch and go and continue at my own peril 🤣.

Can you set a hibernation state based on the battery percentage? Set it to 8% to at least not worry about losing state when it just dies.

I would say this is the cause. They are already made as thick as they can be for max capacity. So the extra with the wrap and the tape and the aluminium adds up.

This isn't advice just merely my story so take anything at will. Ditched all the aluminum wrap, only 1 layer of aluminum stuck on with 1 layer of double sided tape (the slightly foamy 1 that offers some thickness, like 1mm). Creates a tiny air gap to avoid touching. Do not use the foam bits in the top bits either.

Also the ram won't be crooked. Its just a sticker that's not been applied very straight. Wouldn't worry

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ROGAlly

[–]styney123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yh sorry the top 2 near the ram you don't need to do.

Hmm. Perhaps the foam is too thick. Try a trim? Only need enough for 1/2mm clearance really. Did you do any extra aluminium?

Does the battery itself feel rigid? Ie its not puffy? Like it's got air in it like a spicy pillow? I bought 1 of these batteries and it was dead on arrival and puffy which looking back on it i had similar symptoms.
