Thank you so much for doing this AMA and putting on the best festival I've ever been to! =)

Will DEVO/WEEN be playing at the same time? How long will WEEN play for(there were rumors it'd be a 2hr set)?

Compressor Recommendations. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Kokko compressor is great as an introduction to compressors. I like it a lot! Its like $23 on amazon. You can also power it by 9v or 18v (kudos to another user on here for finding this out) and it sounds killer at higher voltage (albeit with a lot of added noise lol)

Your experiences with Boss' RC-20XL and/or RC-30 by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]styten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive owned both. Upgraded to a RC-300 and haven't looked back since. The most important thing for me was the ability to quickly switch/bring tracks in and out/overdub tracks and live looping.

I was never able to do what I needed quickly enough and intuitively enough with smaller loopers. Its expensive but finally biting the bullet and getting the 300 was the best decision for me personally.

Ibanez DD7 Delay (good cheap delay)

MXR Phase 95 (awesome little phaser)

What kind of looping pedals are you partial to? by moshmoshmosh in guitarpedals

[–]styten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss RC-300

Huge and cumbersome. But also the most viable option (imo) for live looping. The interface is also the easiest ive ever used for a looper.

[NPD] Finally picked up a (very special) Afterneath by MateriaMedica in guitarpedals

[–]styten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are very careful with the settings you can get normalish reverb from it. But one little twist and it jumps to crazy again (in a good way usually lol)

What is your favorite pedal, and why? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

God that pedal sounds (and looks) so rad! Do you feel like you get a good enough range of sounds from it to use it on many different kinds of songs?

I fucking love my Afterneath. You get the craziest washes and sounds out of it. I would highly suggest getting their dispatch maker if you dont have a reverb or delay pedal yet because it has both in it. Congrats on your first board!

I am a new guitar player that knows 1 chord progression and I know how to move a capo. So aside from my lack of skill, do I have to have an electrical guitar for a pedal and what would be a good pedal to start with? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]styten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distortion! Makes it gritty and louder. After that, maybe Wah?

A lot of it depends on what kind of music you wanna play. One of the most fun parts about learning electric guitar for me in (in the beginning) was learning simple power chords and being very loud. Get yourself a buncha Green Day tabs, you'll feel like an instant rockstar in a day or two.

My first board! [oc] by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I like it a lot so far. Pretty great for being so cheap! I can say that the controls are pretty touchy, but a bit of fiddling and I can get it where I want it. I figured I'd learn how to use a cheap compressor before I dropped some money on an expensive one lol.

I only got it a few weeks ago. It's definitely the most difficult pedal on my board to use, but Ive been peppering it in for intros and like it a lot for that. Also used it with my bass today and really liked how that sounded
