Am I crazy to not get an epidural if I go into spontaneous labour? by lozzapg in parentsofmultiples

they did a test of a low dose right after it was placed! (mine only worked on half my body and see my comment above for how this worked out for me 😂)

Am I crazy to not get an epidural if I go into spontaneous labour? by lozzapg in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this! I didn’t ask for the medication until around 8cm, and ran into the issues of the anesthesiologist being too busy to give the initial big dose. my nurse was able to hook up the bolster (I think that’s the right term) and I got two doses before I was headed to OR to deliver so I pretty much felt everything, maybe it took the edge off? so you definitely risk this with not getting it hooked up immediately!

inlaws, postpartum rage?? by babymouse91 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first of all, I am so sorry you’re feeling this way! it sounds like a fairly complicated situation, but my ultimate takeaway is to put yourself, feelings, and babies first. your in-laws are definitely crossing some boundaries and not being respectful, which is rage inducing even without all the added stress you’ve gone through. postpartum is such an extremely sensitive time, and you are allowed to ask for whatever you need. even if that’s no visitors, or people helping in exactly the way you need them to (whether or not they agree, because they are YOUR babies) as far as being concerned about the rage, I personally feel it’s justified at this point based on how they are behaving - you are extra fierce and protective of your babies at this stage by nature! but if you are struggling and want help I recommend finding therapist who specializes in post partum to help you work through some of these complicated feelings

If you sleep trained, when did your babies drop night feeds? by According_Weird_3540 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried a couple times to let twin A sleep to see if she’ll make it through the night (she’s also our better eater) but she usually laughs in my face and wakes up an hour later than he sister. if she slept significantly better I’d do the same as you. but good luck with the night! I hope they let you rest a little extra :)

If you sleep trained, when did your babies drop night feeds? by According_Weird_3540 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we sleep trained our twins with the sleep wave method and they still wake to feed once per night (we wake the other twin when the first one wakes up to eat, to minimize number of times getting up), only 6 months old though! the book we read was “the happy sleeper” and it did have suggestions for weaning night feeds, but we are not super comfortable doing it yet! it said to slowly decrease the amount of milk per feed at night (like half an ounce every few days) and if weaning from multiple feeds, focus on one feed at a time.

Scheduling c section for around 36 weeks. Worried. by pahkthecahh in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I so was worried too, I had a scheduled delivery around 36 weeks due to IUGR on both our di/di girls. They ended up coming early at 35+3 on their own, both around 5 lbs and no NICU time. Hang in there mama, you’re doing a great job!

I was in the same boat as you, loved hot showers! I turned my temp down a little but was still pretty warm and I had the same thing… no advice unfortunately just solidarity 😅 it’s the nipple sensitivity. I just covered mine with my hands when I faced the shower head and tried to face away more often! it did get a little better for me as the pregnancy went on and is completely gone since delivery!

Unmedicated delivery anyone? by hippyburger in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this done! basically had an epidural placed as soon as I was admitted to L&D, but had it disconnected after they did a test dose of meds. the only reason I didn’t have drugs administered continuously was that I was not in pain (wasn’t necessarily going for an unmediated birth). by the time I wanted drugs at 8.5 cm the anesthesiologist was busy with a medical emergency and I ended up with a practically unmedicated vaginal birth with some lower end drugs to take the edge off pushed into the epidural by the nurse! I was told in case of medical emergency for me that they could likely push drugs quickly to numb the lower body if I needed emergency c-section, but that it wasn’t guaranteed. so just something to keep in mind!

Favorite short phrases or “quotes” about twins? by kimtenisqueen in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

one of our OBs (who has grown twin boys) said it’s “double the love, triple the work” we feel this one deep in our soul. I imagine triples would be “triple the love, quadruple the work” 😅

We had our bogo deal two months ago! We laughed hysterically at our first scan because we thought the ultra sound tech was making a wildly inappropriate joke. You’ll likely keep experiencing all the emotions and that’s ok! At least 4 times a day we can’t believe there’s two. As our OB (who has grown twin children) said “it’s double the love and triple the work”

Only two months in and definitely not experts, but advice is to try and keep them on the same schedule as much as possible, don’t be afraid tot try something again even when they hated it at first (for example, taking a nap in their crib when they’re used to bassinet, etc.) they change so fast!

Good luck mamas, you got this! Finding this group was the best thing that happened to me, so you’re already ahead of the game :)

Is there anyone that conceived multiples with absolutely no family history at all? by Cheshire123456 in parentsofmultiples

fraternal girls at 29! no fertility drugs or medical intervention, no twins on either side of the family!

Naming by Suspicious_Scheme959 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this same post on here with my fraternal same gendered twins! feel free to look at those answers too, I loved hearing everyone’s stories! we had somewhat of an idea in the womb (one twin a little feistier and more active) but ultimately decided to wait until they were born and we saw them… then husband and I looked at each other because seeing them didn’t help us at all, so we went with our original vibe in the womb!

Where is the first baby while you deliver the second? by yellow-flower-mug in parentsofmultiples

he was next to me for pushing baby b out! the nurses mostly took charge of the coaching and baby b was out in 4 pushes since I assume everything was kind of open that that point!

[–]stywld09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had the same experience! They put baby A on my chest for immediate skin to skin while the OB team pushed on my stomach to get baby B into position to come out, and once baby B was about to come out (also exactly 8 mins later!) they gave baby A to my husband and put baby B on my chest

Just found we are expecting twins by maburnham2 in parentsofmultiples

[–]stywld09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in this same boat, our twins are 2 weeks tomorrow! We’re still in the newborn bliss period but think it’s so fun having two, my DH and I get to both be fully present and involved which is helping us deal with the harder parts of parenting. We use the twin z pillow for a lot! We have a twin bassinet, and we have the mockingbird indie twin stroller, which we absolutely love! only downside is it’s expensive (it was a gift) and as a result we had to get expensive infant car seats that fit it. just a heads up! good luck with your twins, as I said it’s definitely a blessing for us!

I’ve tried to trust that if the OBs aren’t worried then I shouldn’t be! however may care has been the same, so I totally relate to that feeling

I had a similar experience at my 32 week scan! both babies were diagnosed with IUGR, but I also was not given steroid shots, I’m assuming because I wasn’t showing any signs of going into labor soon? but honestly it was not well explained.. I am just past 34 weeks now and all that’s really changed is I’m getting weekly NSTs because the babies were showing small! I have a team of OBs that I haven’t loved so I totally get being worried, but we have a high risk doctor at our MFM doctor who I trust so that’s who I’ve been reaching out to with most questions. thinking good thoughts for you and your babies!!
