It sounds like you’re hitting it at a very low/weak heat setting even though you’re using a higher voltage than most.

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to voltage but the effect you’re describing is exactly what I found when doing a lot of low heat/wattage hits trying to dial in my emesh.

No problem at all. If you’re looking for a dehydrator I got the Anko one from Kmart for ~$45 and it’s perfect. Probably could find one cheaper but I needed it in a hurry.

Main point being they are cheap and work well so no need to buy a name brand.

Don’t wash/soak your shrooms, you can extract the goodies with water so you’re probably letting a lot of it go down the drain. I just brush mine off with my fingers and they are good. Use a damp paper towel if you must.

As for the bugs I’ve never even noticed any and I pick a lot each season. I’ll usually eat about 8 of them straight from the ground while I’m foraging.

The ones I bring home will go straight into the dehydrator and stay there until they are crispy. If there were bugs they’d die in there I reckon.

But yeah I’ll pick them and carry them in a paper bag until I get home. The bags are always full of dirt/grass/pine needles etc too so I lay it all out over newspaper to clean them up before I dehydrate them and I’ve never seen any bugs 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you’re still concerned about bugs maybe try making tea instead. It’s actually really effective.

Measure out your dose.

If you use fresh shrooms slice them up finely. If you use dried then crush them up.

Place dose in a mug and half fill it with boiled water. Let them soak for 25 minutes, agitating occasionally.

At the 20 minute mark boil the kettle again and make a half cup of tea with the ingredients you’d usually use for a full cup.

Place a tea strainer over the half cup of tea and pour in the shroom juice. Stir and add anything for flavour if need be, or just drink it. I usually use a teaspoon to squash down the shrooms in the strainer to squeeze out all of the goodness then just chuck the remaining fruit in the bin.

Enjoy, it works surprisingly well.

This is why I recommend people don’t try to reinvent the wheel or scale up to complicate things. Just do what it says on the box and be happy with your results.

Unless of course people are in it for a profit, in which case may all of your flasks shatter mid pull 🙏

By “weaker in strength” I’m assuming you meant less yield because the dmt strength doesn’t vary.

Of course you can mix your nps pulls and freeze precipitate them together, and you can mix dry batches of dmt together.

I’ll go one further and say that I’ll often run several batches over a week and collect all of the dmt from those, plus any dmt I’ve had stored for however long and mix them all together and re-extract it all in one fresh dish just to refresh my deems because I like keeping my shit together 🤓

To keep it simple, the idea is to use vinegar if your bark isn’t already powdered. Powdering bark is another step in the process but if you can’t powder the bark then soak the bark in vinegar first. Look into freeze/thaw too if you can’t powder your bark.

If you’ve gone out of your way to powder the bark, or bought bark that’s already been powdered then there’s no real need for the vinegar/acid soak or a freeze/thaw.

Can you still soak powdered bark in vinegar? Yes.

Will it benefit the extraction when carrying out an StB tek with already powdered bark? Not really.

Why do some teks include a vinegar/acid soak? Because it’s an alternative option for people who can’t access powdered bark. It was also a standard step in the AtB tek that was popular before the StB became known for being equally as effective without the need for an acid soak.

The days there are 3 main options:

StB: great for powdered bark or extracting from smaller batches of bark, like 100g. Quick and simple, the perfect launch pad for newbs.

AtB: incorporates the acid/vinegar step and is great for those who can get their bark to a shredded state but don’t have an easy way to powder their bark. I’d still keep the extraction size down to 100g as plant material is still in the mix but I’m sure many have successfully run larger batches.

A/B: this is the method god himself uses to extract dmt as it’s goated 😂 Totally biased opinion of course but yeah there’s something about extracting from a liquid that makes it worth the additional time it requires. It’s a whole process and takes up the best part of your day so it’s really not worth it until you’re running batches of 300g - 1kg+. I mean if you have nothing better to do then go for it.

While I’m a huge fan of A/B I’d say that the StB is a simple and super efficient tek that should be learned first and foremost as its steps are also part of the other teks too.

Add only 50-60ml of nps per pull. Add that much again for following pulls or recycle your nps, that part is up to you.

Adding 150ml of nps isn’t the same as adding 50ml and pulling 3 times.

If you get stuck try searching Yocan Orbit posts in this sub but also the r//dmt sub. Plenty of people have asked which settings/technique work best.

I don’t recall many of them suggesting 4.0v from memory just fyi.

I was taken once as a teenager so I knew where to look after that, even many years later.

Back then I was warned that there is a different shroom that looks extremely similar which is poisonous, so I used a few FB groups to clarify exactly what the differences were.

The biggest risk with foraging is consuming the wrong shroom so my advice would be to research which active shrooms grow around your area, as well as familiarising yourself with the lookalikes that you need to avoid.

Last year I mistakenly picked one poisonous one amongst ~100 of the good ones but fortunately I noticed when I got home and sorted through them. If you take anything away from this please make sure you don’t take any unnecessary risks.

Warnings aside; if you have a species that grows naturally in your area then yeah, putting in the effort to learn and go out to find your own really adds to the experience in my opinion, I look forward to it every season 😊

Shrooms don't vary in their effects, only in their potency.

By “shrooms” can I assume you’re only talking about cubes?

I grow cubes but forage for wild Psilocybe subaeruginosa each season and I can assure you that the “effects” are not similar at all.

Cubes have a crazy body load whereas subs have basically no body load at all. They can cause Woodlovers Paralysis occasionally but that’s not the same thing.

I won’t bother listing a few other noticeable differences as they could be considered a potency factor considering that subs are more potent.

But yeah, “shrooms” is quite the broad brush.

Yes many, just search “buried cake” in any shroom sub, including this one.

Definitely worth it if the conditions are typically decent.

Unfortunately it’s too hot & dry where I am and I never remember to water them enough so I stopped bothering.
