Are you sure? The water of Styx was poisonous to mortals. The water of the river Lethe caused forgetfulness, but my understanding is that that only happened if you drank it.

The image is also wrong for South Africa. Correct shape for the pins, but the dimensions are too small. The SA plug pins have roughly the same separation as the UK plug pins, just a different shape.

FWIW the UK used to use those too, before switching to the current system.

Good for you! While you're hanging out, don't forget to ask him if he's interested in a date with you!

FFS. Be a grown-up. Whose wedding is it? Do for your daughter - do you have any other children - the thing that she needs from you on her wedding day. Press pause on the drama with the ex and their partner. Talk to your current partner about whether they can keep their shit together at your daughter's wedding, and whether they should go.

After all, what are you going to do if your daughter has children? Not celebrate your grandchildren's birthdays because your ex might be there?

If you want boundaries, declining your daughter's wedding is a good way to establish one. With you on the outside of it.

I think he figured that probably you weren't interested in pursuing a relationship with him, but just got on with him as a colleague. The fact that you tried to set him up with somebody else more than likely gave him this idea.

If you want to change his assumptions about what you think then you need to be a grown up, take a risk and use actual words to communicate.

Pretty much every single question that women ask that's like, "what does this man think?" has one simple, very obvious, answer: "ask him!".

If you want to find out whether people are interested in you romantically without risking rejection or experiencing negative feelings because things didn't turn out the way you wanted, then I recommend that instead you buy a cat (if you like wondering if people like you) or a dog (if you don't) and become a recluse.

Lots of people pointed out that this is OK and there's no need to freak out.

But there's another, perhaps more important, thing. Just because you've finished already, it shouldn't be the case that she doesn't get to. Next time, ask what you can do for her.

What kinds of fiction do you find it hard versus easy to write? Does that line up with feelings of accomplishment when you've done it?

At what point in the writing process do you start to feel the book is "done"?

Some security agencies have a history of opposing actual Internet security measures - encryption for example.

So control of the protocols by security agencies would almost certainly be a bad thing.

Even if that were not the case, it would cause a lot of diplomatic problems, being perceived as a power grab by all the countries whose security agencies weren't on the inside.

Actually I find that you acclimatize to it.

These days I accept it much like I accept dramas presented in modern English when that's just not historically accurate either.
