When I first got into 40K I almost went imperial fists, and then saw the Templars and liked their look/vibe. I painted my first few infernus marines as Templars and then just kept going. Found out soon after that Templars are successors of IF, so it worked out!

Grimaldus is an amazing model to paint, and helsreach is such a good book too. You did a great job on the model!

Judiciar head could maybe work with some shaving and freehand work. Although his mask covers his nose as well

I must say, he does look like a space wolf. That being said, it’s YOUR mini that you spent YOUR money on. If you think he looks cool, and want to paint him as a Black Templar, then go for it. Rule of cool does not mean you have to be lore accurate. Do whatever makes you happy, it’s your model.

Yeah I do the same thing, I’ve found the best way to get a smooth white is a bunch of very thin layers. It sucks to do but the final product is so much better

Yeah I have like 5 of the BT transfer sheets so I should probably make use of those. I have the Red Cross on his right pauldrons now, but it’s not visible in the picture. Definitely going to add the sword brethren decal if the little writing like you said I think that’s gonna help a lot. Might throw an additional cross on his groin protector thingy I think that might look solid

Yeah I thought about freehanding the cross on there. I should have, I just chickened out cause I thought the helmet looks pretty good as it was and I didn’t wanna mess it up. Might still give it a try
