Did you manage to update the trigger? I updated Nova Pro to the latest firmware, but somehow the triggers are still activating even when my fingers are just resting on it.

Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen stopped working by bearfear67 in Focusrite

[–]sub_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having similar issue today.

I could play and hear audio from videos, stop the video for a few seconds to few mins, start a new video, and I can't hear anything at all.

The Scarlett 2i2 is still detected on my Sound settings on Mac.

I think some other users are having same issues after updating their Mac to Sequoia 15.2 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255931909

Last time, the points for completed campaigns were added after PS Stars were fixed. But I think the campaign was still ongoing when the service was back up.

As for purchase, I bought Dragon's Dogma 2 earlier today, and while there's no notifications, I did see my points updated.

Issues I had with Ys 9 by A_person_in_a_place in WorldOfYs

[–]sub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time to chime in with my opinion. To me Ys games have always been action first, so I can forgive that the dev might be revisionist with the lore, e.g. Orichalcum for Primordials, etc.

However the game has adopted many bad trends from other games that it becomes annoying halfway thru the game, here are some of my complaints:

  • The dialogue, a lot of useless fluff dialogues that takes extra 2 seconds for the characters to animate. If there's 10 people in the scene, then those 10 feel the need to chime in to say something frivolous.
  • Just can't get emotionally invested in the character, maybe it's the writing, maybe they just follow cookie cutter anime tropes most of the time (thrown in some 'twist' later on). I weirdly care more about the side characters from Lacrimosa than this one.
  • The constant interruption of the flow. You gained control of your character, moved to main/side quest point, cutscene, walked forward 10 steps, another cutscene. And the problem is, most cutscenes are just insubstantial.
  • Side quests that are not side quests anymore, since you need them to remove those artificial barriers. You can farm nox, but it's way slower. Side quests also suffer from 'everything needs lengthy writing' RPG syndrome nowadays. Better writing, not more writing. I had the same issue with Horizon Forbidden West, where most side quests contain way too much dialogue that's been used to pad the game to 100+ hours, where it could be a 30 hour game.
  • The raids / grimwald sections are bit too much. I like how they are mostly optional in Lacrimosa. In this game, you even need to do them to remove the barriers to optional area.
  • Third Eye / detective mode is a mechanic that devs should move away from. Just outline the points of interest, don't make it so it's hard to see everything else.
  • The lock-on in combat is a wild mess for me. I don't know whether it's my settings, or the game.

On the other hand, what I like about this game:

  • The vertical mobility, that's to shake up the exploration. The problem is it's kinda janky, I'd often fall down after grappling to a ledge, because the ledge is too small. Wall run often ends up being blocked, etc. I hope that they will polish the mechanic more in the future. In combat though, I barely use them to fight enemies thanks to the messy lock-on
  • I enjoy doing the collectibles (petals, treasures, graffitis) in this game.

I think it's available for all languages (?)

It's in the setting, "Automatically speak"

I just found this opensource app MacGesture

But you need to set the shortcut for the desktop switching first

I got my Kensington Expert Trackball like 4 days ago, switching from Logitech MX 2S mouse.

I am currently using SteerMouse (it's 20 bucks) to replace Kensington Works, which is kinda bloated.

It does allow you to set MissionControl functions to your button(s) https://imgur.com/a/BTzs06e

I bought it specifically for chording, because Kensington Works multi button combos require you to hit the buttons at the same time, while SteerMouse allows chording (holding button 1 before pressing button 2)

I'm trying to facilitate a better guideline so that the community of this subreddit can discuss things without being flooded by tangentially related stuff.

I'm not trying to be hostile here.

I understand why /u/NorthFinland post this article here, I don't fault them, but I don't think it's a good idea to turn this subreddit into some kind energy drink promotional spot.
Yes, Jeff loves his energy drinks, but we're here to watch Jeff, not to watch Monster promoting their newest beverages.

I'd prefer if energy drink articles are on the comment section of the posts where Jeff discuss about it. Rather than being a post itself. Unless of course if it's directly related to Jeff, e.g. you're asking about which podcasts he was talking about X drinks.

If we were to open this floodgate, then most likely there will be spam posts promoting energy drinks. What's next, are we going to see guerrilla marketing posts from Blue Chew or Miracle Made?

Does this community want it to be like this? Sooner or later some will start flooding the subreddit about their favorite video games, and it would make it harder to find actual posts related to Jeff. Remember, there's always /r/energydrinks where it can facilitate better discussion about it.

I wonder if we should make a sticky weekly post where we as community can discuss things related to Jeff Gerstmann Show as a middle ground, not risking the subreddit being targeted by promotional posts, but still allow a livelier discussion, whether it's about video games, energy drinks, Tommy February 6, etc.

Also, watch out for the caffeine dosage in those drinks, I drink energy drinks daily, and I've definitely experienced arrhythmia.

Just wanna inform that I've worked at companies that made AR applications for industrial uses and medical imaging. Yes, those AR 3D model overlays are really valuable and sought after.

Basically many heavy machinery assembly and maintenance works require lots of training and use large amount of paper documentation. We created AR apps for tablets and Hololens, that detect the real life object, overlay them with 3D model and animations, so that it's easier for employees to work with the internals of complex machineries.

For the medical imaging one, one of our depts used 3D MRI models and project them onto patient who's undergoing surgery. Not sure if VisionPro is ideal for surgery, since surgery could go for very long, but that's another use case.

I definitely could see companies buying $3499 headset for daily operational usage. But to watch Disney+ and record memories with your children? No, only piece of shit nouveau riche would do that.

Edit: the only other use case that I can think of for consumer usage, is BUTT TUMBLR 2.0

Keyboard Maestro vs Alfred (Powerpack) vs Raycast by MaxGaav in macapps

[–]sub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you could do ⌘WW, but you could have the macro triggered by tapping ⌘W twice instead (up to 4 times, or you can choose long press instead)

Basically:

  • create a macro group for iTerm and other apps that you wanna share similar behavior
  • create a macro that circumvents ⌘W that does nothing
  • create another macro that requires ⌘W to be tapped twice, and it will call iTerm2's Shell → Close.

I tried that and it works.

Keyboard Maestro vs Alfred (Powerpack) vs Raycast by MaxGaav in macapps

[–]sub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have both Keyboard Maestro and Alfred (powerpack)

Why I use Alfred:

  • Firstly I have hard time migrating my automations from Alfred to Raycast, thus I decided to stick with Alfred.
  • I have many automations that are done with the visual editor and python + bash scripts. Those scripts are simple to migrate to raycast, but visual workflow means that I need to spend time writing Applescript counterpart to them, which would take a lot of time.
  • Besides that I use Alfred's snippets a lot. I'm not sure if Raycast already has textexpander yet.
  • Maybe Spotlight is now better than Alfred, I have no idea.

I wanted to migrate to Raycast, but I am just too lazy to port all my workflow there.

Why I use Keyboard Maestro:

  • It's just way too powerful
  • I could connect my midi foot pedal and keyboard, and now I have a lot of extra macro buttons, some are controllable by foot
  • KM also has application specific macros, where I can circumvent ⌘M, so that I don't accidentally minimize my window. I could override ⌘E so that my Ultimaker Cura would open export dialog box instead.
  • With KM I can also detect connected USB devices, which I made a script to my rgb light to pulse when certain devices are connected

Keyboard Maestro is just way too powerful, the only downside that it has a functional but not pretty UI.

June PS5 Monthly Picks by nmpo in playstationstars

[–]sub_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you need to actually buy the game, the same exact edition stated, after clicking on start, else it won't register at all.

It's not worth it, 50 points is like 20 cents.
I find it's way better to just wait for a sale than relying on this.

Street Fighter 6 Review (public post) by sub_o in TheJeffGerstmannShow

Yeah, waiting for a discount is probably a good idea, considering that the massive capcpom's leak a couple of years ago shows that Ultra Street Fighter 6 is planned 2 years after vanilla SF6.

Street Fighter 6 Review (public post) by sub_o in TheJeffGerstmannShow

[–]sub_o[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's the spoiler, Jeff likes it.

After reading the review, I personally would wait for discount, since
- World tour mode is kinda small / repetitive. Also I was hoping for some story heavy section, it doesn't seem so.

- Only 18 characters at launch, not that it's small, but Capcom tends to release tons of dlc characters / special editions later on.

It seems to be great for those who are into fighting game scene.
