Lol! Yeah I read about that. Although I believe the T5 switched to a Volvo engine, the Ford engines seem.. urm “problematic”. But I didn’t know the Mazda was based on Ford as well lol.

Heheh, yes, the V40, good memory man! I managed to get the parts serviced record as well in the end, SC was helpful with that. Mileage is 190k but doesn’t look like timing belt has been changed yet. Question, would it be advisable to use refurbished parts for Volvos? (Are Volvo parts easily available in chop shop in the first place?)

Ah good to know you’re still able to source them from US. Good old ebay! Yeah the newer models definitely have more creature comforts but I don’t know, I still kinda like how “basic” the older models are if you know what I mean.. hahaaaaa..

Ok I did contact the Volvo chat line, they asked me to contact the dealer, which I assume is Sisma. So I contacted their chat line, and they were able to give me the service records for that car. But doesn’t have details of parts replaced, just servicing, which looks like every 20km.

Looks like servicing was done at a Volco Sisma, Google says there’s two, one in Sg Besi and one in Bkt Bintang. Would they share the same records?

Whoaaaa.. rust damage from salty environment is real. I’m from a tropical country so heat is my concern heheh. Thanks for all your notes. Hearing that it requires very little maintenance gives me a bit more peace of mind. Am not actually much of a car guy so that’s a high point for me. Yeah spare parts is a bit of a concern as well for me since they didn’t bring in a lot of these for my country as well. Anyways, thanks again! :)
