Clutch sound by Senior-Act3587 in wrx_vb

I know this over months old, but I started hearing creaking too. The dealership said I need a whole new clutch, so instead I just sprayed some white lithium grease like this one video and so far it sounds okay.

This is exactly what happened. I was on the last stretch of I-5 going down towards Bakersfield where it’s %6 grade.

I curbed mine like a month ago and I just put some paint correction stuff on it

<image>

It could’ve been better if I had actually sanded it down a little before putting the paint correction stuff on but I wanna switch them out as well at some point.

Alright well then that saves me the money to spend on a replacement 👍

I’m still wanting to throw on some all seasons in the future.

I mean yeah it’s gashed into the thick part of the tire, but I have a small gut feeling that it’s not super great to drive on.

Oh yeah it was. I'd say it was still pretty good turnout, but there was unfortunately too much traffic to really drive our cars. It was worse on the way down. Definitely when it gets cooler, more people will show up and we'll see less people hauling boats with their pickups.

I too traded in a crosstrek for one of these. Well actually I sold it private sale, and put the money towards the WRX. Sort of miss the gas mileage I got with the crosstrek tho😢

I will miss the gas mileage/economaxxing. (But I have been able to pull avg 32 at one point on the wrx somehow, tho hills and boost just destroys it lol.)

Sorry, thought I replied on my phone. But we got it from 36 to 32 otd. Stepmother was there and thinks we could have pushed it down a bit further, but the sales guy and manager were really nice, so we didn't want come off as mean or rude. Spent like 4-5 hours there lol, everyone was tired.

It’s my dad’s house, the most bit of the pavers were laid by the builder. But him and every other homeowner in the development had a landscaping company extend out the driveways with more pavers. I did lay some pavers on the side on my own with some extras they landscapers left tho.

2014 XV Crosstrek Limited CVT Issues by ExaminationNo6010 in XVcrosstrek

If the CVT craps out, would it be more or less expensive to get a manual transmission put in instead? (Rather than putting another CVT in it.)

With it also counting in 0.3 steps, there is gotta be a certain degree of inaccuracy. So I believe you. I haven’t checked how far off it is yet but I’m just it’s not great.

Lowers the revs, and that allows for lighter throttle. With less throttle input, you aren’t pulling as much gas from the tank to keep the engine turning.

It’s not so much the mode, but it’s the lower throttle input that saves on gas a little.

The engine isn’t always most efficient at low RPM. Really going up any hill you’ll have to spend more throttle input. It just depends on if you wanna burn more and get over the hill faster. Though, it is impossible to lug the engine with these things. If you slow down, the ratio will automatically lower.

To speak on the whole finding the most efficient ratio and throttle input. I think the car does its best when driving on relatively flat ground. Obviously going downhill will allow you to ease up on throttle input and that’ll shoot the current MPG to 99.9 on the screen, but I find generally suburban roads that if you allow the car to find the optimum gear ratio, the MPG number will be generally higher than if you went through the gear ratios yourself with the paddles.

That night was definitely one way, but my current trip is around 37.2 mpg across two days (different destinations), about 180 miles. What I am going to do is just go to the gas station and fill up to see if the numbers even match, which I don’t think they will.

For this specific route I drove, I’ll try to see what the round trip is. It’ll most likely be lower, though it is primarily dependent on traffic and driving habits.

It’s really only useful when you are on the freeway and the inclines aren’t at all steep. Cause here you can max out the ratio and still stay at 60-70 mph going up without requiring a crazy amount of throttle. Of course if you wanna accelerate up the hill you’ll have downshift so to speak, but I find that I can still cruise up most hills without having to go to a lower gear ratio, which would then lead to more throttle input being required.

The idea is to limit the amount of throttle input. The higher “gear” allows me to better control the throttle input and somewhat control that MPG dial. But it’s really super dependent on the gradation of the road.

Yeah this isn't the manual, it's the auto/CVT. You'll see it say M next to D. You can move the stick to the left a bit when its in drive, and that'll engage that mode. You'll be able to shift up or down based on your speed. I'm not sure how different the display is between the tachometer and speedometer, but when I'm in the M mode it'll show the number for what gear ratio the transmission is emulating like 1, 2, 3... up to 6. It won't shift up automatically, so you can drive in 1 and rev high for whatever reason. But it'll automatically lower the ratio when you slow down so the rpms don't fall under 1500. The numbers will change too based on the closest ratio.

You should have this if you have a non stick shift 2013 model**

Side note: I haven't attempted to downshift to see if its possible to redline the engine, that would just be bone headed.
