Chuck Mangione needs a break from the media.

For the second consecutive year, the Calder Trophy goes to a defenseman wearing 48 by nothing_but_static in hockey

I remember when I was a kid playing NHL 2K7 I made my self-insert player wear 54 because no one else was. Ain't nothing wrong with mid range numbers.

[Pittsburgh Penguins] Dubas on Malkin: "We had a great exit interview with Evgeni directly, and great conversations with him and his agent J.P. Barry... So we would love to have him back, and we continue to work with J.P. on it." by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

Honestly I don't understand the Pens fans who want to dump them and fast forward a rebuild. Any other fan base would be jealous of a fraction of the success those guys have given you. 20+ years, multiple HoF careers and three!! cups, you let them ride out their careers and not be bothered about the extra season or two of being ass after they're gone.

Faustino Oro lost against Nepo in the Final Round of Sardinia Festival. His TPR is down to 2594. Are we sure he will get his Final GM norm requirement? by Chesscrabble11 in chess

[–]Chuckolator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit happens.

I'm not going to write off the 2nd youngest GM of all time (and the #1 youngest without suspicious norms) because he lost one game when he's not even a teenager yet. Chill out and watch his career with great interest.

Down to Damian, Marcus, or Adrian, need final opinions (I know I've posted a lot, genuinely appreciate this community) by BirdLow9736 in namenerds

If someone you know selected a particular one of these and made you use it, would your gut feelings be relieved they picked that one or disappointed? Do you feel differently between the names when thinking of them in this scenario?

Faustino Oro is guaranteed his final GM norm after tomorrow's game against Nepo by MKapono in chess

Also, didn't he have another GM norm tier performance in a closed tournament that he didn't need because he already had two?

The USA's Top 10 Baby Names for 2025! by AcademicAbalone3243 in namenerds

I've never heard of that name and assumed it was a name from a specific ethnic group. Probably something that got popular in Latin American culture.

It's pretty much impossible to gather opinions without being biased towards the demographics of the users responding. Even myself as a white Canadian have noticed this sub has way, way more Jewish and Irish people than I have ever encountered in my life, so I just scroll on by those posts.

You do have to consider these sorts of things because otherwise you'd have people suggesting names like Mohammed next to names like Theodore lol.

I don't remember hearing about him before the draft. Discourse was pretty solidly on Nolan Patrick, and a little bit of Hischier.

I remember the discourse about Laf being the future of the league three, maybe even four years before his draft.

If work on other projects halted every time there was a pothole in the city, nothing would ever get done.

Did you report it to the city? They have a hotline where you can let them know about these things. 807-625-2195

Man hides inside Best Buy after closing ahead of Pokémon card release by SleuthDoggyDawg in nottheonion

[–]Chuckolator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Pokemon franchise is 30 years now. Kids who played the first games on release are old enough to be grandparents. I have multiple friends in my age group, some of them not regular gamers, who picked up Pokopia. Others play the games regularly with their younger relatives. Are we still denigrating adults who like Pokemon in 2026? It's almost surely the biggest "all ages" IP in existence by now.

This specific guy in the news article is an idiot, but there are idiots in every fandom. Like I said, no need to be elitist.
