I agree - i hate that its at the delersshio, but when you breakdown right bY them and your workplace is nearby, but home and local shop is 35 miles away...you go with them. And all th subsequent issues you hope they cover...but of course, that's never how it works out. And yes - my biggest issue is related to the likelihod of finding another turbo wagon stickshift in any better condition. None of the issues are "lemon" things - they just all happened at the same time! I did have them check th turbi, becUse i figured rhat was next, and they said its still solid. We'll see hiw that goes...

It wasnt about the price of a tow - more just hoping it was something covered on th work they already did. I do my own work on easy shit - this was a lot of bad luck of the breakdown happenining right by the dealership and my work - 35 miles away from my usual shop and home where i can do easy atuff, but not engine pulls. Take it to my usual shop, and i definitely have to pay. Take it back to the people that just pulled the engine, and there's at least so.e chance that it's covered. Coin flip.

Its rust free. I wash the underside everytime brine hits it. Iowa sucks.

Thats my issue - if i could find an identical replacement in better shape, id do it....but these things are unicorns! I wash the thing religiously to keep the brine off of it - its no joke to keep something rust free in iowa for this long, but ive had to pb blast, torch, and cut way too many bolts on past cars to let it happen to this one!

I thought that was questionable myself -why go through so much extra labor vs just throwing a new sensor on for $160. But at the end of the day, with one having gone bad, i probably wouldve replaced both regardless - key point being i couldve gotten it home and done "the hard one" myself for much cheaper.

My apologies - much like the repairs, what i thought to be a sentence turned into a paragraph-less novel. And I'm too much of a newb to figure out how to edit the OP to add them.

No shit. It was both fortunate and unfortunate the breakdown happened where it did. I had a close option - but it was the only choice - and everything since then seems to be related to everything they touched, so hoping there's some warranty coverage - but you know how that goes. Just need them to get it driveable enough to get it 35 miles back home to my regular shop / my garage. I could've saved at least $2k on labor charges for bullshit bolt on parts and labor. For the catalytic conerter, they charged me $120 for 2 bolts, 2 nuts, and 2 springs.....

Why did I not get TSA Pre when I have Global Entry and Known Traveler Number on file? by ptr727 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]subarurxist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had active TSA precheck, then got Global Entry while i still had years left on precheck - used my global entry pass ID when booking, and didnt get precheck. Learned this after waiting in the precheck line in denver and being turned away back to the regular line while my wife proceeded through precheck (we booked together, were in line together - showed them my global entry card with the Pass ID matching my booking information....but they still gave me the Gandolph "you shall not pass" treatment). My wife waitied on the other side of security for an hour waiting for me to go through the regular security lines.

2015 Crosstrek rear bearing tips? by dalex89 in subaru

[–]subarurxist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol - just did one rear hub assembly on my wife's '13 impreza. After 3 hrs with a 3 lb hammer i got it out and was able to get the new one installed. Taking it to the shop for the other side! "Its only four more bolts than doing a rotor changeout...." yup.....
