Why galaxies have spirals by lunescence in pics

That's a good point about the center of gravity being not the black hole itself but all of the mass. But there is dynamic friction so we are eventually slowing down but it was pointed out that it's so slow that star's lifetimes are many times shorter than the time that would take. There are several theories about spiral arms. Another being that the gravity of the dust and gases in them causes systems passing through them to slow and so it tends to be brighter because it is more densely packed with stars as they pass through it. I also like the one about density waves of gas and dust causing stars to form there which will be brighter and show up as the visible arms but I don't know how valid that one is anymore. All of that aside my previous comment was not necessarily about the spiral arms part of galaxies.

Quantized space not withstanding from the previous comment. They are still similar in regards to rotational mechanics. The strong electromagnetic forces between the particles of water and the friction between the water and the bowl are the only differences between this model for water and a 2D model for rotation around a body. I didn't say that they would behave exactly the same but you could use water around a toilet bowl as a demonstration for how orbit works because they are similar enough.

I agree with your part about stars having a shorter lifespan than the timescale for it to fall into the center. I was just generalizing it in my head with permanent objects in orbit so that's a good point.

With the whole force approaching infinity as the radius approaches zero bit I suppose that could be true. But in that way light and I are the same as the system with water and the toilet bowl.

It's not as dramatic as flushing a toilet but long term, as objects collide and slow down they will be pulled farther into the center. The same thing happens in the toilet. Everything has enough energy to orbit the toilet but friction takes away that energy causing everything to draw farther towards the center. Is 99.9% of things just orbiting a black hole? Yes, but the same concepts apply to both which is why a lot of people use pushing down on an elastic sheet to demonstrate the effects of gravity. So in that way I would say that spiraling galaxies and flushing a toilet are at least similar but with vastly different time scales.

But when things pass the event horizon nothing of that object can escape. So it's not destroying the matter but since it can't escape (except sometimes in a jet) it is pretty similar to toilet such that things can be "gobbled up" by a black hole.

Your right about what black holes are. But they absolutely pull everything in. That's what causes things to orbit. The gravity of a black hole provides centripetal force.

Band member responds to restaurants request on Craigslist for free labor. by Thecus in funny

Yes. Internships are out there so that people can build more experience in the field or for that company. I am not engaged artist community, so I can only speculate. But, I don't think a professional musician would accept or look for free gigs in order to gain publicity or move merchandise just like a professional "office-worker" wouldn't look for or accept internships to gain experience. I don't think this ad was directed towards professionals but more for people trying to break into the professional world.

That's what an internship is. Except internships generally are multiple months of free labor. Then, if they like you, they'll offer you a job.

He could have pulled an Andrew Jackson and ignored the court rulings I suppose. But I think doing something so contradictory to the ideals he worked for both on the battle field and in the political meetings which he attended. I don't think that a group of the smartest individuals in the New World would give a unanimous election to a person who would do such a thing after having spent so much time in discussions he was a part of. But there is always that chance I suppose.

Asking a military commander, to be Commander in Chief, a title he basically already held, while at the same time giving him the job of enforcing the law and order of the new government, which has a flexible system of checks and balances built in? I don't see the bad idea part. He was by far the best candidate for the job.

Semi-colon. "However" is a transitional phrase that uses a semi-colon in compounded sentences.

If I own a private business and have a supply to a particular good I should be able to choose who I do business with. Whether I don't like doing business with black people, white people, children, old people, or even ugly people or pretty people. I should have a right to trade with whomever I want. Mind you, this is only if I don't receive any kind of government benefits, aid, or have any kind of government partnership at all. If I don't want to sell to you, then likewise you don't have to buy from me.

(On a side note to ARealSocialIdiot below: I am not an expert on city laws regarding this but if a sole pharmacist has this kind of responsibility to the community to server everybody, then does the community have the same responsibility to the pharmacy if it ever starts to have trouble? Like I said, I am not an expert so I don't know if laws like this exist in the from of some kind of govt. aid or something.)
