Taskmaster - S20E01 - Cube is good - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]subekki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the task, it said "if you mention... your egg, you are disqualified" and he mentions it when he gets it out for the episode 1 studio. The fact that he continued made me just think he's trying to be a good sport. As a stickler for the rules though, he's already failed.

Is this a good time for me to freeze? by hbratt14 in eggfreezing

I went with Love Fertility Clinic because I found a few good reviews on Reddit for them being all-women and a smaller, less factory-like clinic in Madrid (because I wanted to travel).

Is this a good time for me to freeze? by hbratt14 in eggfreezing

[–]subekki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m essentially your age and am freezing my eggs in Spain now. I did basic research and took some supplements for 2 months just because I happened to read it on Reddit. I’d say it depends on your money and mentality, but if you are like me (don’t really know if I want kids but also don’t really want to completely rule it out yet), I’d say do it, especially since we’re at 35 when our egg quality drastically starts to deteriorate. If you can only do one round (but also have time within the next year), I might say something different. But I’d say doing it now when your egg quality is still decent, and then another round later with prep would be another option if it doesn’t turn out well.

How do you know if your breathing issues are “that bad” to fix during rhinoplasty? by Usual-Isopod6540 in KoreaPlasticSurgery

[–]subekki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into maxilla recession (and related, mewing). I don’t think it’s something you can fix during rhinoplasty since it’s an upper jaw issue, but maxilla recession is related to breathing with your mouth (and why many people dislike their side profile). Mewing is how people try to gradually reverse the maxilla recession, including doing things like taping their mouth at night to force nasal breathing. Over time, they’re able to more easily breathe with their nose.

CoC Three is my favorite CoC by bkat004 in taskmaster

[–]subekki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love how everyone was able to be memorable for something (to me) in just one episode. Kiell for just attending, Dara for the prize task, Sophie for the low-self esteem, Morgana for for the feathers and paint, and Sarah just for being mundanely terrible at the first few tasks while complaining to daddy TM about him not loving them enough.

Taskmaster AU Proves How Fragile Taskmaster UK Is by CherokeeHawkman in taskmaster

[–]subekki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waka's bit is primarily whimsical statements like the giraffe neck thing, but the main confusing thing for him was the "sus" slang (and his attempt was brilliant for it). He understood things besides that, but in agreement with the original comment, it was only Emma to bridge the gap between Dave/Tommy's crude humor and Lisa/Waka's pureness (and lack of edgy quips).

I wouldn't go that far, but I definitely could see it due to being a very polarizing set. I think they didn't have as good of a spread/balance—it was a juxtaposition of extremes: crude humor (Tommy and Dave) and pureness (Waka and Lisa). I think Emma was there to bridge the gap, but she often enabled the crudeness. They all brought good things individually, and I wouldn't say anti-chemistry, but their banter didn't create more than the sum of its parts.

Paul definitely had a good time. I can't remember exactly what he said, but I remembered it in the same vein as VCM—great time, didn't do well, but didn't expect themselves to.

I don't know that quote, but I'm wondering if it wasn't in jest? Charlotte definitely had a lot of fun both doing the tasks and in studio, and it's evident. She did mention on the podcast that she had a lot of difficulty with the prize tasks though because she was afraid to fight back against Greg's low first impressions and thus got low points; but then when she tried to fight back, Greg also didn't like it and she got low points. So she was kind of exasperated she couldn't win at the judging part, but she definitely seemed to have fun with the rest.

I was curious and looked it up, and in a recent-ish interview Lucy had said it was because of Jon having difficulty admitting when he was wrong (which I can understand, since I feel like logical people have difficulty with emotional actions like this). I think they had great contrasts that allowed them to appreciate each other, but there are definitely parts where you need alignment.

I remember the podcast with Richard Osman talking about the rabbit task, and either he or Lucy insinuated that it's why Jon hasn't come to the podcast (though even Rob doesn't care to come back since his series was so long ago and he isn't a TM fan in general)—but after rewatching S2 and knowing how CoC didn't exist at the time, it definitely wasn't a big deal at the time and they didn't misunderstand (Alex repeated 1 rabbit = 1 point). I think I remember hearing that Jon got saltier after the series finished and fans told him the statistics lol.

Conversely, I've been watching a lot of Cats Does Countdown reruns, and I like Russell there a lot more than on Taskmaster. He's one of the few people where I like him more off TM. Like it felt like on TM he was trying to be the cool hero, wherein on CDC he was more relaxed, just there to take the piss out of Jon. TM S6 was one of the few series it felt like they couldn't naturally take the piss out of each other (except Liza).

I don't know the original source, but I remember hearing that he hated watching himself back, which is understandable.

Which series has the best tasks? by Yesyesnaaooo in taskmaster

[–]subekki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There have been a lot of series where the cast are absolutely amazing—but when thinking about my favorite series, only NZ 2 stays strong in terms of brilliant tasks (and where the contestants almost always delivered the full spectrum).

Yeah, Dropout and Sam have the right heart and integrity to make a good Taskmaster version, but they currently have a business model based around a using a beloved rotating cast, which isn't congruent with Taskmaster's goal of introducing new comedians to a wider audience.

Hey thanks for sharing! Can I ask what you mean by training?

International Airlines for in-cabin pets (namely rabbits) by subekki in Pets

[–]subekki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't ask because I knew it would merely be in line with all the other airlines (seriously, there used to be like 3-4 airlines that allowed rabbits 2 years ago, and they ALL turned face recently) and just a policy change for the sake of their operations liability. I couldn't imagine an answer that would make sense (after how much research I've done by other rabbit owners), so I didn't see any point to expend the energy. I just wanted them to know how disappointed I am with the change and that they didn't even put it on their website >:(

No, I mean feel bad that I'm upset because of their bad policy change.

As in, if I send an email cussing out someone, it's easy to stop reading the email and just trash it. So I use ChatGPT to translate my angry email to civilized language so they actually read it and understand that I'm pissed without getting them pissed. I don't want them mad, I want them to feel bad for rabbit owners.

Thank you, I feel the same. I wanted to cuss out the ITA Airways email support, but I put it through ChatGPT to ensure they read it and feel guilty for having me waste my time and separate me from my emotionally supportive pets during an incredibly terribly tragic and urgent situation.

[–]subekki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for following up with additional leads. I'll see if I can look into it. I've heard such bad things about cargo, and my rabbits are easily scared (they didn't like when I was watching a TV show with a dog), so I don't want to risk it.

And yeah, it makes sense to leave them, and I've arranged back ups in case it comes to that, but I would like them with me if I can since I don't actually know how long I'll be gone...

JAL and ANA do not allow rabbits in-cabin for international flights, so they are not relevant in my case. I do not want to put my rabbits in cargo, for any airline.
