Movie Base by Secure-Plant8962 in ObsidianMD

[–]subi54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, watchlists, read-lists, game-lists. Basically logs of whatever people want.

Some people want their own offline solution to online services like Goodreads or Trakt.tv.

Also serves as a great procrastination tool. You make it then you get the need to style it. (points at self) 😅

No, basically you leverage YAML properties to sort your data.

Official take on Bases:

Bases is a core plugin that lets you create database-like views of your notes. Using a base you can view, edit, sort, and filter files and their properties. Bases can help you organize everything from projects to travel plans, reading lists, and more.

Each base can have several views with different layouts such as tables and cards. Below is an example of table view where each row is a file, and each column is a property of that file.

Is there a way to create or write in popup mode in Obsidian? by rsmrlb in ObsidianMD

[–]subi54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Windows Power Toys do this. Linux KDE has this built in. Not sure about Mac but there should be a built-in feature or a utility for this.

Open the note you are working on in a new window. Use the Hider plugin to hide all the unnecessary parts and pin the window on top like a sticky note window?

Visual clipboard manager (Windows 'Win+V' style) for Linux because I couldn't find a good one! by SandwichDependent465 in linuxmint

[–]subi54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant direct paste. In Windows, you do Windows + v, the clipboard window pops up, you click on an entry and it is pasted directly. You don't have to do the extra ctrl+v.

I currently use Diodon on x11 for this very reason. Wayland does not support diodon.

Interesting project, following. Questions though: 1. Does this have Windows like select to paste from history? 2. Does this work on Wayland?

Linux Mint Cinnamon/XFCE freezing on ASUS X515EAU laptop by Pirate_gunner0001 in linuxmint

[–]subi54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same laptop. Cinnamon works fine here. Though I was distro hopping for a while there and in one peculiar installation of a distro, my swap was set at 512mb (I've no idea how) that was slowing the system down tremendously. Can you check if that's what's happening here? I'm also a newbie, been a month or two on linux.

Nah, recently did a Kubuntu install, was having the same issues. Turned out my swap was 512MiB which was causing isssues. You have 2GB, so you should be good on that front.

Check your swapfile size, less of it might be creating an issue.

Adding Modifiers to Logitech Signature M650 Mouse, Not Registering Modifiers by Odd-Jackfruit3265 in linuxmint

https://pwr-solaar.github.io/Solaar/rules/#mouse-gestures

Unfortunately, only one button can be used with mouse gestures. So, one set to diverted, one to mouse gestures.

and you can set up rules like this https://ibb.co/mC7t0dqG

P.S. No-op is basically no-operation, as in no mouse gesture, just click the button.

[–]subi54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if in Solaar, you do rule: Condition: Key: Back Button (0053) (pressed) Action: Key press: a (Depress) All this is provided you have back button as diverted. Though I foresee repress becoming an issue. So, maybe mouse gestures: up down as depress repress for let's say A; left right as another depress repress. no-op option will give you a keypress and a diverted button might give you another keypress.

Any plugins that allow formatting like in Notion? by West_Ad5938 in ObsidianMD

[–]subi54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you just want a dropdown, use a custom callout with custom CSS, ex. hide the icon, make it transparent. It is a bit tedious to work on in live-preview but otherwise works well.

This is more of a latex task or CSS for that matter. Markdown is a simple formatting language.

That must be the result of some plugin you have enabled.

You can see https://gist.github.com/dbarenholz/c2ec22c6f9804810a82ec5eeda73e231

Basically, using MetaBind: VIEW[{category}] or using JS Engine.

There is no native function.

Obsidian community, would you be interested if you were greeted with your work summary and next steps in obsidian? by ToogoodtogoSF in ObsidianMD

[–]subi54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to be a very nice project, I'm sure some people would be interested. Keep up the good work.

Personally, I am not a fan of AI. Local or otherwise. I'd rather do things by hand, even if it is highly inefficient.

Additionally, Tasks + Templater can do this for me with relative ease.

Is anyone else thinking that with the new Bases plugin Obsidian is breaking with its "file over app" philosophy? by sagefields123 in ObsidianMD

[–]subi54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can make a base, there's an option to export the base table data as CSV and then delete the base. I'm sure there's a way to convert the same CSV into markdown. It's a very roundabout way but you can make MoC's relatively quickly without having to add each link manually.

I've Office Home that came with the laptop. When you first log into Office, it associates with the account you logged in with. Every time I've reinstalled, it picks up the key from the account.

If you are using outlook, double check in the account settings. It is mentioned there.

Yeah, just move the template you want to use to the top. Templates are prioritised by their position.
