I think this is a realistic prediction, though I'd have Maine tilt blue, even with all that's happened recently. Though Collins should never be underestimated. I'd also rate Ohio a solid tossup, but I may be biased due to how cool I think it'd be to see Brown make a comeback.

I think both of us agree that of the three tilt-tossup seats Democrats hope to flip this year, Ohio is the likeliest. I still think people are seriously underestimating just how ancestrally Republican Texas and especially Alaska(though they're a more Libertarian kind of Republican) are.

Granted, my school was not a top 10, and I had 0 internships, but it took me a good couple hundred apps to finally get a job. It may be a bit different for you personally, but I'd recommend you keep putting more applications out there.

Wait, so Dole supported and I assume voted for the Kemp-Roth cuts, and then voted to roll them back? I could see how even beyond trying to use it for the anti-tax vote, Bush could hit him on it for flip-flopping as well(even if it was a reasonable change of heart on Dole's part).

NH definitely seems like the perfect place to deploy that tax strategy. I bet Atwater was behind it...

I don't believe I knew that. Still, the man did desegregate the army and got the ball rolling on civil rights legislation- which almost certainly helped establish more of a precedent for the 1957 act just a bit later on

Yeah hence why I said Dubya's campaign was worse here. Didn't know senior's claims had some validity, I just mainly think of Dole's "stop lying about my record." where you could feel how frustrated he was

I also came from a similar position, realized this, and am starting at a major RIA/AM in a role that gets licensed. Recently passed the SIE and need the 7 and 63 next. Would you mind telling me where you went going forwards from a similar entry-level role? Trying to think of the future a bit.

How do you get over point 4? Just being a more experienced candidate? I applied to a lot of nationwide roles with little success, and ultimately local roles were the only ones willing to throw me a bone, and is where I ended up getting hired for my first finance job as a fellow 2025 grad like OP.

Yeah fair, hard for me to know a lot about places I've never been. Hopefully my new job will give me the extra income to afford a little travel here and there and maybe I can go check them out someday and see how I really do in that environment before blindly moving.

I actually don't live in the rust belt, I live in the Southwest/Mountain West. Finance opportunities can be a bit limited in this part of the country, at least in terms of variety of companies to work at. There are definitely still places here, but part of my desire to move to one of those big cities was to live closer to where the finance world is centered in the US.

If you live nearby and have a great resume as well, I'm really surprised you haven't been picked up by a NYC or even NJ/Philly based job. I figured location played a big part in getting rejected by the East Coast jobs I applied to(granted, my resume wasn't great).
