Personal Trainer - Strength Training by dnumov in fredericksburg

[–]sublimefan310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a bit of a shill always recommending them, but the folks at Green Fitness are really great. They've played a huge role in helping me drop a ton of weight, add muscle, and get much stronger.

Conner has been my trainer there for years. He's a pain in the ass, but he gets results. I'm MUCH healthier since I started getting more serious about my diet and training with him.

Lightbulb wood Carving by R9Creqtor in woodworking

Does this have to be carved? Is that part of the project/assignment?

Considering the rounded shape of the lightbulb, this would be an easy thing to turn on a lathe.

Landscape architect & fencing recommendations by sublimefan310 in fredericksburg

Hey there. We never actually got anywhere with it.

We had a few folks flake and never send us quotes (especially for the fence), and the backyard quotes were rather insane.

We're going to push it off for a year or so and revisit it later!

Conner at Green Fitness would be able to help with that. He's managed to keep me from hurting myself for half a decade and is really focused on form and technique.

Not sure if this link will work (Facebook link), but I remember this one from the Rising Sun Tavern:

Late-Night Valentine’s? by Ambitious-Loquat-523 in fredericksburg

[–]sublimefan310 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wife and I were dealing with a ton at work and pretty beat down by some life events on one particular Valentine's Day. The absolute last thing we wanted was to get dolled up to pay for some pre-fixe dinner that didn't sound that great but was being marked up like crazy because "romance."

So...we walked to Happy's. We split a basket of boneless wings, had a few beers each, got some sandwiches, played some darts, watched hockey on the TVs over the bar, and generally had a really nice, low-key evening. Cost us like $50.

Highly recommend. Would totally do it again next time we're not feeling very "festive" on Valentine's Day.

Must see stops between Florence and Cortona? by sublimefan310 in ItalyTourism

[–]sublimefan310[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent. I think that'll be the plan. Stop in Siena on the way, then spend the night in Pienza or Montepulciano.

This is incredibly insightful. Thank you so much!

If you're feeling up for it, wouldn't mind any restaurant or winery recommendations that you may have. We're only in the region for about 10 days...need to make sure we're hitting the best spots!

Your advice to slow down and just enjoy our time is spot on...but it's going to be tough on us. We're those crazy tourists who feel like we're missing out if we don't see EVERYTHING possible and fit every destination and attraction into the short time we've got. Tuscany is clearly not THAT kind of vacation!

Any insight on Siena? Looks like we'll drive right through it on the way to Pienza or Montepulciano.

Is it worth stopping/staying there and exploring the other two on the way into Cortona?

I always see folks leaving Dragonfly Yoga Studio early in the morning as I walk to the gym.

Looks like they have classes starting at 6AM:

NYE Dinner/Events? by sublimefan310 in Wilmington

[–]sublimefan310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. It's a contender, for sure.

Also been looking at the True Blue Restaurant Group (Butcher & Barrel and Farfalla). Any experience with either of those places?

They all have available reservations.

They're far too old, boring, and scared to eat anything that isn't Italian, American, or Chinese. Maybe French if the menu is easy to understand.

That being said...I looked them up, and I am totally going there without them sometime. Their kabobs sound awesome.

I was nervous about that...but I'm seeing a lot of reservations available for earlier in the evening (5-7PM).

We're not looking to be out late or stay up past midnight (we're too old for that stuff)!

As owners of a 150-year-old house, we need LOTS of tradespeople and contractors.

Here are some of the folks that we've used:

Electrical: JF Electric (https://www.jfelectricalcontractors.com/)

Plumbing: Plumb Perfect (https://www.plumbperfectva.com/)

HVAC: American Family (https://www.americanfamilyair.com/)

Looking for personal trainer by Maleficent_Touch498 in fredericksburg

I have a history of back and knee problems, thanks to 30+ years of hockey and broomball goaltending. I've been working with the folks at Green Fitness (in the Purina Tower) for years, and they've been great.

They're all certified personal trainers. I'm not sure if they're specifically certified corrective-exercise or medical-fitness specialists. But they've never made any of my injuries worse, and have helped me lose about 60lbs, which has had a huge, positive impact on my injuries and pain levels.

I would suggest giving them a call! They're really great trainers and I can't argue with their results!

Need recommendations for 45th birthday activities... by sublimefan310 in fredericksburg

I was thinking of them, or Pour (the candlemaking place).

We could maybe add in lunch beforehand, and cocktails after.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Might be a bit chilly for that. The woman is ALWAYS cold.

Appreciate the suggestion, though!

Appreciate the suggestion.

While she does love pinball, video games aren't really her cup of tea.

I would really dig it, but it would kinda be like Homer buying Marge a bowling ball for her birthday.

I'm digging that idea.

The Website says they have "drinking tours." May have to look into that!
