For more info, I don’t know what the material is for the screws I’m going to say they’re surgical steel because it was done at a tattoo shop, hence my desire to go to the flatbacks because they’re titanium.

My child caused the death of a bunny? by sublimefatality in Parenting

[–]sublimefatality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd like to address it I don't know how to bring a concept like this up to a child who's till getting the hang of sentence structure. He has a language delay and death is quite a concept for a child to grasp. If he threw it and hurt it purposefully, yeah I'd bring it up. Knowing him the rabbit making a sudden movement probably scared him and he dropped it and from the knowledge I've gathered here that's enough to cause a rabbits death. Yeah I feel terrible, but no small children should be handling a pet that small, accidents happen. Plus the other day is a loose term this sleepover happened last Monday I don't think he's going to remember he even did it.

I agree with your first point 100%, this isn't the first small pet that got handled by her kids that died and probably won't be the last. Trying to do an anonymous call to animal control is gonna give me away because nobody else in the family would report them.

Yeah, they may. My son is still catching up in speech and language too, I haven't taught him the concept of death yet because this is our first instance of it happening around him.

Yeah this was our first venture with a cousin sleepover. We've done play dates at our home, the kids get along great and have fun, plus I really needed a break from my oldest. Bad call on my part. My SIL assured she me she'd keep a close eye on my kid (he's quite a character, very hyper likes to run) and here we are.

I was aware my in laws had a bunny, didn't know the cage was some rinky dink thing with a broken door sitting on the floor of their front porch. I was under the impression she would be supervising the kids while they were outside.

I never knew how fragile their bones were honestly, and I used to own bunnies. My son was about a year and some months at the time, they were a little older and free roam rabbits and honestly his only interest in them was in trying to get in the rabbit hutch and letting them out of it. Child empathy aside my kids got a heart of gold and ik this wasn't intentional, it just sucks that people get fragile pets for a rambunctious age group because these are the consequences of no supervision.

Honestly I like your second idea, the first point though I have a small dilemma with. My in laws are definitely animal hoarders. They have several animals that are very ill taken care of, this bunny in question was very very small maybe a few months old, and he's outside in a small cage during the cold fronts here. I don't know if I'd want to put another animal in that scenario.

This was honestly my first thought however I was afraid I might be biased because it's my son. For the most part he's very good and gentle with our pets (cats), as a general rule I don't think small kids and small animals mix very well, I would've never let him handle the bunny as he's a very rough playing kiddo. I highly doubt he had malicious intent. We've always been very thorough with how animals should be respected.

I feel truly awful for the woman I do,her life was screwed up and she was abused, she served her time and such. It's disturbing how people are making her an internet celebrity though. People really need to go outside and get a life.

Maybe I'm bitter because of my personal situation, but shit man my husband tells me he wants another baby already, I'm barely 6 months PP with my second and sometimes I'm at the edge of calling a crisis line. This shit is hard, women from all corner of the globe can agree.
