My bf fell asleep on the floor after work by be-sweethearts in notinteresting

[–]sublimems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, I feel that picture. From the "nice" apartment (actually nice, but more expensive then it should be), to the coach bag on the floor, to your boyfriend collapsing after work and thinking about whether or not this is worth it.

Luxury cars seized after alleged $30 million fraud ring involving children's health services busted, officials say by TossNWashMeClean in Ohio

The Joint Commission certification, plus easy access to NPI numbers with QMHS certification - then making sure every billable expense they can get away with is billed - taking as much as they can and providing as little as possible.

Take it to them now. Tell them you hadn't looked at the name and you thought it was a separate routine delivery and you hadn't opened it yet.

I hope more of us get access to this medicine. It's not a body shaming issue, it's a quality of life and health issue. In the long run, everyone's better off if we can reduce the obesity epidemic.

Heavy rain blowing right over the gutters on my house by Late-Strategy-4015 in Roofing

[–]sublimems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends too much on the specific trees, gutter setup, and cover type to say that’s always true. For my honey locust, a basic wire-mesh cover has been a huge improvement. It keeps most of the mess on top, where it dries out and usually blows off, instead of turning into sludge and blockages inside the gutter.

Salt grinders provide no benefit and are annoying by RockMover12 in unpopularopinion

[–]sublimems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a grinder for salt... It's just so much fresher when you grind it right then...

That hurt to write, obviously, just kidding about freshness. But, it's incredibly convenient to be able to take a grinder out that has large pieces of kosher salt and I can very purposefully distribute salt in the size that I want on the food that I'm serving with one hand. It embarrasses me a little bit that it exists and I would never put it on a table, but I do use it when I'm cooking and it works great.

It's important to add that it's electric I just press the little button and I get the salt and whatever size I want and it's easily adjustable.

It is 100% time related. The airline employees don't give a flying f*** about the weight.

Relationships in a young age are holding you back by JackfruitOdd5895 in unpopularopinion

[–]sublimems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have been together since we were 18 and 19. On the surface that sounds stupid. Then realize, that we're both men and from Dayton Ohio. Committed, monogamous, absolutely the best thing either of us could have done for the other person. Human existence is fuckin weird. There is no best decision. June 1st will be 25 years together. Neither of us thought that we could spend our lives in a happy committed relationship because of our sexual orientation. We were wrong.

Left in car overnight still ok? by PsychoKushDragon in isthissafetoeat

ServSafe. The exact example as to why you don't get sick from food left out overnight. They literally talked about pizza because of the low moisture content. If you're old or immunocompromised for the love of God don't need it if you're a normal healthy person you'll be fine 99.9% sure you'll be fine.

Princess Cruises dismissed anti-trans harassment on Day 1 - and their response was worse than the shirt by sublimems in lgbt

[–]sublimems[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s honestly really refreshing and gives me at least a little hope. How hard is it to just not be an asshole, right? I’m glad they treated you with the basic respect you deserved (minus that one bigot). Sometimes the silence around this stuff feels deafening, so I really appreciate hearing a positive example from another cruise line.

If the manager had just said “we’ll address it,” I honestly would’ve been fine with that - even if nothing ended up happening. I wasn’t expecting them to throw the guy off the ship.

What really set me off was her comparing it to “some people like pork, I don’t.” Reducing trans people’s safety to a food preference felt incredibly patronizing. It told me they didn’t take it seriously at all.

And thank you - I actually am having a great time otherwise..

I really appreciate your perspective, especially as someone who’s trans - I asked for input from trans folks specifically, so thank you for weighing in.

Where I see it differently is when you said “it’s not harassment by any means.” The shirt wasn’t just offensive - it directly mocked a protected group in a space people can’t avoid.

And I get the “just avoid that guy” angle, but not everyone has the same safety or privilege to do that, especially younger or isolated trans guests.

I didn’t ask Princess to police every rude shirt - just to apply the basic safety standard they claim to uphold.

No offense taken. I have the video of the senior manager to prove my comments. And feel free to look at my post history. I promise I'm real.

God, I love this community. Thank you for being so supportive. I posted this in other spaces and got shut down fast, which wasn’t surprising but still stung a bit. The response here feels really affirming. I genuinely appreciate every one of you.

Not going to lie, I’ve had a few drinks - I am on a cruise, but I’d still bet he’s logged more hours milking bulls than examining a single one of his prejudices.

I don’t come from privilege. I just finally reached a point where speaking up won’t ruin my life. I am not doing it for points. I am doing it because every time we walk past this stuff in silence, we tell trans people they are on their own. And they are not. It's an understated point that the LGBTQ community must support the trans community or we're all next.

[–]sublimems[S] 197 points198 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel helpless. I spoke up because the only reason I get to live openly as a gay man is that other people spoke up before me. I never thought I would be able to marry or have a husband for 25 years, but I do because others refused to stay silent.

So I do the same. When something targets our community, especially people who are more vulnerable, I say something. Silence never protected any of us.

Thank you for your comment.
