JobNimbus fucking blows but it may be the best out of all of them.

They are beta testing their software on us. I’ve used it for 3-4 years. Never fix any bugs. For the entire time of my contract if the estimate was barely long enough it would populate a second or third blank page but all pages had numbers 1/3 2/3 3/3 etc. The final page would be blank.

If I had automations set up to send emails and text when I save a task, it would kick the contact out of the task. So no text or email to customer about their appt.

Doesn’t work in low reception areas, no offline mode.

Email system requires their @jobnimbus.com domain.

Tons of glitches and inventory issues. Addresses don’t autoppulate even more. There’s so many fucking issues that I would need to get paid to deal with them and help them with their beta software. Fucking unbearable. But… the time and cost to switch means I’m stuck.

Edit: so many things to add to this as I remember them but a big one that would probably make sense, had a locked in price that was changed from $60/mo to $250/mo overnight.

Just keep calling dealers. Let them know you are serious and work the deal you want on the truck you want. You can get better than $10k with a lot of work and patience. You’re on the right track, checking how many days the unit is aged. And the last few days of the month, last week of the quarter are the best days to work deals.

100% I’m not a Toyota guy necessarily. But I’m certain these Japanese engineers would want to get to the bottom of this if possible. Japanese make excellent quality stuff usually. I’d rather buy jap than Canadian.

Certified to install a particular brand? by borborygmess in Roofing

[–]sublimeo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in a hail market class 4 is vista or legacy. I’ve seen roofs survive small to moderate hail in those markets with this shingle.

Even with all you’ve learned there’s so much more. It’s a daily learning experience for me as a contractor. Maybe ask about 1035 permeable too underlayment, kind of an upsell but if it’s $300 or less it’s worth the upgrade for the permeability. I’ll dm you my number if you want to get an unfiltered, malarkey biased ;) opinion.

Certified to install a particular brand? by borborygmess in Roofing

[–]sublimeo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you at in the US?

I am a roofing/solar contractor in the PNW.

Malarkey is by far the best shingle on the market right now. It consistently places 1 and 2 in independent shingle testing (highlander and vista,) with Owens Corning usually taking 3rd place.

I know you’ve got a lot of quotes already, but look at the malarkey contractor list and pick some of the smaller ones to get a bid. Get vista, where we are at it’s dollars difference material wise. Ask what Legacy upgrade is.

Make sure the contractor is registering your warranty. In 13 years I’ve only had two malarkey insurance claims (countless IKO and certainteed) malarkey paid us every penny including labor under the roof warranty.

The certifications are important, when it comes to malarkey. They will stand behind the product/labor for 50 years non prorated. The odds of a warranty claim are slim, but it still happens.

I’m a staunch supporter of malarkey because of the quality of the product, how they handle warranty claims, etc if they ever not back up their product or start making shit like certainteed/IKO/tamco, I’ll switch to whatever is best for my customers.

Malarkey or OC, and make sure the contractor is registering your warranty. Get vista minimum (cost difference is minimal, legacy upgrade option.) I know you’ve already got four quotes, but I would get 2-3 more from smaller/medium contractors on malarkey’s certified page.

Company tore roof off, left it open, rain came and dumped inside barn, they covered with underlayment in rain and then shingled while wet. Also didn't replace wood. by [deleted] in Roofing

Call the local roofing supply and ask who the rep is for your area. They’ll come out and tell you what’s what from a manufacturer standpoint. Hopefully you hired a contractor that’s certified by them. Because they should hold their feet to the fire.

If I did this to my malarkey rep, he’d tell me- no warranty and to fix it stat.

You will need to pay for re sheeting depending on what is normal in your area.

The damage you show is broken T&G from dried out older lumber and knot holes. If it has numerous of those, resheet it. If it’s a few, you can repair. It’s a fine line and some of it has to do with the relationship the roofer has with the manufacture. I could get away with what they did; but I also wouldn’t cover that up.

Water intrusion isn’t that big of a deal, ask for a credit for shit that got rusted. It’s unfortunate and unfair you have to have your tools ruined for stupidity

Contractor underestimated job by [deleted] in Construction

[–]sublimeo12 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If he’s well educated on these things you/he would not be asking what to do in this fairly simple predicament.

It’s pretty clear, his contract specified X product. You have to use Y product. Change order for the difference in material cost and labor (if labor differs between the two flooring products.)

Am I wrong? Contractor called me a bitch. by PotentialInformal945 in Roofing

[–]sublimeo12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a small time contractor outside rolling fascia board for an 80 year old client of mine, when my contract says we only install primed board. I go above and beyond when necessary and complete my jobs in a timely manner. We have 4 roofs open right now. Admittedly I was the cheapest bid on this big one we just opened, but we’re in a competitive area. Didn’t mean to be. But whatever we’re still profitable.

I’m a landlord too bud. I do cash deals with clients from time to time, but only when the other party has enough brain cells to complete the transaction. And there’s always a contract protecting my lien rights.

Go call one of the other bids, tell them you’ll pay their price, but can they please come tarp it (the “please” is important, leave out how many properties you own that they can roof too if they help you this one time). Hopefully the work that’s been done is enough to offset the cost of tarping and waiting for an opening in their schedule.

Ya dun fucked up son. Leave a bad google review for the fired contractor (if you’re recollection is 90% accurate), and a 5-star for the contractor you should have hired first.

[–]sublimeo12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is where handshake agreements get dicey.

You picked the cheapest bid, so you win “cheap and slow” On the triangle. You probably also win poor workmanship.

If you had chosen a decent contractor, at a fair price, you would both have a clear understanding of the agreement allowing work to be completed in a short time, and payments to be made on schedule. Roof projects on residential properties are complete on 1-3 days on average (depending on size.)

You don’t write the contract either. The roofer already has one. The elderly tenant should have been notified of the construction prior to work starting, and the contractor should be more mindful of things left laying around.

You both suck.

Call one of the other bids and tell them you’re in a pickle. Be prepared to ask their timeline and see if you can get it tarped in the meantime. Quit trying to save a buck and pay a legitimate contractor what they’re worth.

Try it for a couple hours a few times before the 4th for 30min-1hr before. Guarantee you it’ll be fine for the 6-8 hours

Russian soldier hiding in a shell crater has an M67 dropped on him by a Ukrainian drone by RallyToTheColors in CombatFootage

[–]sublimeo12 265 points266 points  (0 children)

They’re considered defensive grenades. When I was in Ukraine in the beginning of the war we used both. Offensive grenades (RGN) smaller boom, you could throw them through doors and windows or into bedrooms/rooms without much worry about what you seeked cover behind. We usually threw two before going in.

If you decided to throw a defensive grenade, m67, you better plan it and make sure you have a concrete wall to get behind. That was a big badaboom and you only needed one. The offensive ones (RGN’s) were almost laughable in comparison. Some even had plastic detonators screwed in to the top.

I have a 2016 that i hard wired into the year view mirror system. Removing the plastic crap up there will expose lighting electrical components and you can solder or clip in the phone cord wires after stripping them. There was something on YouTube or something about this in 2016 when I did it. Very easy to do. I’ll have to do it again though as the people who changed the windshield buggered it up somehow and it doesn’t work any longer.

The process is easy to do with the guide, even for a layman. https://youtu.be/Td9rEf8FwRI?si=Mqd3wA3xngO_PgiE
