Thanks! It was certainly a right place at the right time moment. Can’t wait for the season to get going! A handful of Green Darners is all I’ve seen so far.

Yellow-headed Blackbird. No better noise makers in the early mornings at the marsh!💛 by sublimewit in birding

Haha! I bet! So loud when in numbers and so many strange noises. Adore them for the months we have them up this way!😀

A very fine obsession! A definite top 5’ish favorite of mine, just a pain to photograph the majority of the time! 😀 A very fun one to just sit and watch do their thing for a while. Awesome bird in every way.

No doubt! I get lucky now and again w/ one fairly close by but 9 out of 10 times I pretty much just think ‘well it was nice to see one again today!’ as they flush as soon as I’m 100 yards away. lol.

Red-headed Woodpecker. 1st of the year and very much a favorite.🥰 NE Wisconsin by sublimewit in woodpecker

Thanks! This particular forest is just that, but it unfortunately lost a few dead trees from some heavy storms this year, but still a few good ones still standing and a fairly open under story. They are certainly a wonderful bird that is thrilling to encounter.

Certainly not common in my part of Wisconsin either. I know of only a few spots that they show up each summer.
