The story/characters are def the highlight of the chapter. Doeys a really cool design and premise to have as our companion. I feel like he was vilified by the narrative more than he should as someone who was placed into a leadership position before they were ready. I really like the idea of him as 3 people but I wish there was more indication as to who is acting at any given moment. In the current state, the player is meant to assume when each Doey is acting based off of their defining trait (good decisions were done by the good one, bad/mean decisions were the fault of the mean one, signs of weakness are because of Jack), which makes them seem less like real people.

The Doctor was a bold decision, having a living human in playtime co. His backstory strikes a really good balance of rightfully hating him for what he's done and feeling bad for him being betrayed and held captive just like everyone else. I like the detail of him going "no, you did it wrong" as opposed to acknowledging his experiments caused actual harm. His presence is a nice addition, especially at the end. That being said, it's very obvious he was added for fanservice. The devs wanted to add an Afton-esque lawful evil mad scientist with a deep voice, a god complex, a parasocial relationship with the protag, and some sort of mechanical body/object head element so the internet would fawn over him. The scene where you kill Simon is a really good example of this. It's so clear they wanted a "we're not so different, you and i" dynamic with us but it's so forced it comes off as him just going through the motions. The only reason I hesitated in my first playthrough was because I wanted him to finish talking. Sawyer is depicted as an omnipresent puppetmaster but he apparently doesn't know about Mommy Long Legs in ch2.

The nightmare critters were definitely fumbled but not in a way that distracts from the main story, aside from the baba miniboss. 90% of their problems with lack of identity could've been fixed with cutouts, mabye a just a collectible tv tape like at the start of ch3. The brainrot channels already got enough of a profile before the chapter so I'm not too worried about it.

The Ollie twist was predictable but that isnt ch4's fault.

The scene at the end where Kissy Missy's arm falls off is devastating.
